I had a lot of fun with my purple 74 duster. it was plum crazy with white scoop wing stripes an top. it had a 380 horse crate motor with a 4 speed an 3.91s..hooking it up was hopeless. I swaped in 2.94s trying to get fuel mileage..it was hopeless, but at least i could pull away from a stop light without smoking em by accident, and i wasnt turning 4 grand at 65. ended up swaping in a 318 2bbl so i could drive the thing. still didnt drive it enough so away it went.  :shruggy:  Made a good profit and enjoyed it

I will have to add that a 340/360 or 318 with better heads will really make things interesting for you should it be an option.

Looks like we'll be taking this route...  :rotz:

Coo; project,  I am doing a 71 Duster.  It was a 318 3spd.  I am doing a 340 4spd car.  I have been torn on the color, Sublime, plumb crazy, and Panther pink, are at the top of my list.  I had all but decided on Plumb Crazy purple.  The only problem I had with it was so many Duster owners had done that color.  After you saying your going purple.  I am back on the fence :brickwall:  Good luck with your project!

I don't have any pics of my progress and it is verry hard to get any progress done during wrestling season, but I got the block back from the machine shop it came back as a short block.  I am putting together one hour per day at school.  A little torn as to weather to chrome it up or go stock look.  I am driving to Urbana IL tomorrow to pick up a A body 8 3/4 3:23 sure grip I bought.  Still torn between purple, pink and lime green :shruggy: Gun metal grey is also not out of the question!

We have a 340 with alum. heads sitting around... Just wanted to do something different. The body work will draw you in, I think the motor will just offer that kick.  :Twocents:

whats the plans for the bumpers?

We tucked the bumpers into the body and got rid of the filler strip. (it has some specific name I cant remember now)
Now its on to sectioning them in about 2" and then contour to the fenders. Pinned, chromed, and viola' ..
