I am helping a friend with a stock 318 build, the crank has a small scratch and has put a scratch on a rod bearing during mock assembly, we have cleaned up the crank but will the bearing be OK to use. I can just catch the scratch on my finger nail.

if it is just a surface scratch you will be fine, but hard to tell without seeing it , how deep or wide

I don't have it with me so I can't send a pic but its about .015" wide and its just through the top layer so not very deep. The crank was nicked probably from the rod catching it as it went in.

Probably knicked it with one of the rod bolts, always slip a piece of rubber hose over them to avoid it  :2thumbs:
