My radio just died!

I'm at work so I can't start digging to deep, was sitting in my car (69) after lunch and had the radio on.  Standard musicmaster am radio.  The previous owner installed rear speakers but only the dash speaker works so without turning the radio off I truend the ignition off, took the keys and opened the trunk to see if I could find any wires.  I couldn't see anything and in my work clothes I'm not going to crawl in the trunk to find out.  Got back in the car, turned the ignition on and no more radio!  Checked the fuse in the glove box and it's fine.  Are there any other fuses for the radio?

Guess it's a hint to leave the am radio in for looks and get a hidden system with aux input for an mp3 player, amp and speakers.  Any recommendations on which one to get?  Nothing overly expensive, I'm married and would like to keep it that way!   :icon_smile_big:

I looked into converting my radio but I think it's a bit pricey and dont really want to mss up the original radio, a hidden system would work just fine for me.

If someone has one installed, pics and feedback are appreciated!

I'll have to hunt down the business card, but there was a guy in Carlisle that had after market am/fm radios that looked exactly like the originals, and he could add a port for an external cd changer. That's probably going to be the direction I go.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Nothing wrong with that but I wonder at what price those go.  I can do without the cd's even, I have an aux input in my daily so I use the mp3 player more than anything.

When I left work I turned on the radio again and it worked, a minute later while I was scrolling for stations it cut out, I don't know if it's overheating or what but I'm not touching it again!

I can find tons of very nice stereo's on CL that have aux and usb with plenty power and all at $50 or less, but they are full size in dash units so I wouldn't know where to install them.  Only place I can think of is behind the shifter on top of the console.  Where do you guys have your aftermarket radios on a 2nd gen?  Did you replace the dash speaker with a new one or disconnect it and install new speakers in kick panels and package tray?
I really love the look of the original radio so that's staying.  Maybe I can leave the old radio and dash speaker as is (but fix it) and have a separate modern system.
