pulley confusion

im putting the 440 together and i replaced the 4 groove crank pulley with a 2 groove one. now the water pump pulley isnt even close to lining up. is there a differrent water pump pulley that i can use to make the 2 groove pulley work? or should i just use the 4 groove pulley on the crank?

pulley matching can be a nightmare , I would just run the 4 groove at least while looking fothe right lower pulley , basically there is only one waterpump pulley , the problem starts with the thin & thick dampers for steel & cast cranks

A/C & Non-A/C WP pulley's are different....what do you have on there now?

have you just removed the A/C or was it a A/C car  :scratchchin:  if you had a four groove crank pulley i'm betting you had the short & smaller in diameter A/C water pump pulley  :scratchchin:

you know what the water pump pulley was off my 400 which did have the ac compressor on it when i got it. so am i to assume if i get a non ac water pump pulley  it will line up with the 2 groove crank pulley?

Yes as long as it was from a 383-440 engine

i just ordered one from 440 source for 40 bucks and i got new motor mounts while i was at it.
