I'm still waiting on a reply from Troy about how to handle Aero/wing car eBay ads.  I think he'll end up deciding to move them in the For Sale section, but we'll see.

This is Louie Darah's car, and this is the third time it's been listed.  Last time, the bidding stalled out at around $175k.  Looks like this time he's not messing around with a low opening bid...  $250k and reserve not met!   :o   John/OneBadSuperbird knows this car and the seller, and I think he would suggest a close look at the car before plunking down that kind of money.

In the very last photo - it looks like there's another Charger under a dust cover way in the back of the garage.

Hmmmmmmm........

On a side note, I think anything realted to "Daytona" should be left here - so as to get the info all into one place.

I agree leave the aero for sale adds here, just my opinion though.

I think John Pappas was saying its a nice car just now what he would call restored. It is restored by 1981 standards but not actually restored to correct standards.

I would also like to see the ( aero for sale ) ads left here.

yes, i realize this post is over five years old. i came across it while looking through all of the older ones, to try and add info to the daytona list i've been working on. i want to bring this up to date for two reasons.

1. does anyone have info on, or a photo of, this car? im just curious what provoked the price mentioned in the thread.

2. there is strong sentiment, in this thread, for leaving everything aero car related, in this section. i couldn't agree more, seeing as this is the only section i even look at 99.9% of the time. i absolutely agree that aero parts belong here. recently, i've seen memorabilia (literature, toys, etc) and such moved to the "garage sale" section. on the surface, that section might seem totally logical, but i'm curious how the distinction between cars/parts for sale, versus memorabilia for sale, is made?

i realize that i may come across the answers to my questions in a newer thread, but this is something that has puzzled me since i joined the site. i'm a hard core wing-car toy collector, and enjoy reading about those almost as much as i do the real cars. i understand that it would be a nightmare if people took to using the forum as a substitute for ebay, but seeing the occasional wingcar-related item here, might help someone fill in a gap in their own collection. i'm not looking to change established protocol, but wonder if anyone else shares my sentiment on the memorabilia.

Hey Gene I'd say leave the ads here as we're more or less just the peanut gallery looking at the market.  If there are legit ads by people selling things here I could see the move.

I would like to see any Daytonas for sale or at auction here also. In addition I wouldn't mind if the rare Aero parts were here also. If not maybe an Aero parts for sale section within the for sale section.
Thanks for a great site! Mopar John

I agree that there are merits to leaving Aero-related memorabilia/parts for-sale items here, and the occasional thing wouldn't be too bad.  However, once that trend gets started it's hard (impossible) to stop.  Where would you draw the line?  MOST folks wouldn't be a problem, but some would start using that liberty as the aforementioned substitute or precursor for eBay.  There would be complaints about that too.

If such a thread is started and subsequently moved to another section, I normally leave a link on the board that directs people to its new location.  If the title is descriptive enough, it might prompt the Aero-forum junkies to venture out beyond the friendly confines and check out the thread in it's "proper" place.

Moving threads and leaving a link at least allows me the option of following Troy's wishes while letting the Aero regulars know what's been posted/moved - and if there is a particularly egregious offender, I can always move the threads and just skip leaving a link until they get the hint.

I lobbied to keep the auction links to cars in the forum since it started - although I'm sure Troy hasn't forgotten my promise to keep the site purged of inactive/dead links (note the edited replies from 2006 when I still had the time to go through the old threads... sorry Troy!).  There are website/technical reasons why removing the old links is important, I just haven't had the time in recent years to keep up on that particular duty.

There is no perfect solution, for sure - but I understand what you're saying here.  More than likely, the way things are is the best compromise.
