If you could walk into a Dodge Dealership and buy a brand-new Charger, what would it be?

Year / Model / Options

- COST IS A FACTOR - Keep it realistic to what you think you could afford today

I'll go first...

Walking into the Dodge dealership, I'd order the following:

  • 1969 Dodge Charger R/T

    SE Package
    Automatic
    Console
    Bucket Seats
    A/C
    AM / FM / 8 Track
    3 Spd wipers
    6 way seat
    Disc Brakes
    R/S O/S mirror
    Stripe delete
T5 or T7  Copper or Bronze
    Black interior
    Black top
    Road wheels

Ordered late, to get headrests at no cost ;)

I may change my order before it's accepted by production control though ;)

What would you buy??
:popcrn:

Good question and I have thought of it many times.  I would want the 1969 Hemi RT and could likely swing the payments but being who I am where money is concerned there is a very good chance I would settle for a Super Bee.

Mike, slightly confused here?  :shruggy:

Budget and future tainted views aside.
69 White Charger, either 500  or RTSE, very hard from my three brain cells to make that discussion (today)
black int
black stripe
If RTSE then have to be V21 hood treatment & vinyl top delete, hmm maybe vinyl top would be ok if SUNROOF.
If 500, still want the SE please
440-auto
six way seat
FM

In the fall of 1967 I was 2 years old, but  regardless......
I'd order up a '68 R/T with triple blackand BB stripe delete, dual mirrors, 6 way seat with leather, Magnum Road wheels and of course, the HEMI. Yeah, its very similar to the Bullitt car. I'm an automatic guy, so a 727 would be my choice. Oh yeah, and a 4.10 Dana.
In the fall of 1969 with the '68 car safely at home, I'd return to order a 1970 R/T SE with the 440 six pack. This would help because everyone always asks if the 440 in my current Charger is a 440 six pack. I'd dress this fantasy car out with Plum Crazy with Black BB stripe and interior, dual painted mirrors that are NOT even available yet, 6 way power seat (Possible?) Power windows, AM/FM stereo, 15" rally wheels. Dana with 3.54 gears too.

69bronzeT5

1969 Charger R/T SE
426 HEMI 4 speed
Black w/ blue interior, black vinyl top and stripe delete
Body coloured steel wheels w/ dog dishes
Sunroof
Luggage rack
8-track player
P31 Power windows
Chrome rocker sill moldings
Remote dual mirrors
A01 Light group
A34 Super Track Pak option (4.10 gear ration, Dana60, power disc brakes etc)
J46 Locking gas cap
G11 tinted glass- all
L31 hood mounted turn signals
N85 Tic Toc Tac
S81 Wood-grain steering wheel

I just quickly went through a 1969 Charger option booklet and chose what I liked. I'm sure some of the stuff isn't available together though and I'm sure I double ordered a few things

69 OUR/TEA

The funny thing about asking a question like this is most are replying with todays thoughts in mind,Hemi this,Daytona that,sixpack,4speed,etc....Truth is,if this is how we thought in 1969,there would be way more Hemi cars,Daytonas, etc made than there were.NTM,the insurance rates at that time were killing people. And if there were a boatload out there, they might not be as fun today to hunt down and own.
Some of the older members can probably recollect some and chime in as they remember.

Anyway, here is my pick......just as you see in my avatar, 3X9 R/T,even though mine is an R/T SE,loaded, and on the column, would have opted to "NOT"  have a couple of the options mine does have such as: No A/C(clutters up the engine bay),no SE option(don't really care for the woodgrain),and have the floor shift. So this is how I would have bought one:

    Triple black R/T
Stripe delete (love the V88 emblem only on black cars)
    440
    727 auto on the floor
    Tic-Tock
    PDB
    PS
PW (love rolling down all 4 windows from one spot)
    Road wheels with redlines
    Am/FM

But..........that would have been a younger me buying like that, and now alittle older,I actually have a change of heart on the A/C,as it will probably be real nice when working properly for them hot days when out there driving it,even though I still say it clutters up the engine bay.And as I don't care for the look of the column shift,I do like the buddy seat serving as an armrest vs. the console with nothing to rest on ,like a modern car.
As far as the R/T SE part, prefer the look of the reg dash plates instead of woodgrain, but do like the leather seats and pedal dress up,as well as the SE script on the roof,NTM nice ring when you say " R/T SE" LOL

Basically,I'm very happy and could'nt ask for more than I have now.
