I have gone the other way but I believe the process is the same , you need to submit the serial # 3 days Before you arrive at the border so they can check for theft or liens , we have to pay sales tax , they inspect the car at the border to confirm serial numbers etc & off you go

:agree:
Basically what I was just told last wk with the car I just sold going up there, although I am doing any of that, it would seem like a good idea to call boarder and research it first hand.   It did not sound like it was that big a deal listening to my buyer, he did mention the notarized title, state reg and tag had to be with the car, along with that three day ahead of time notice to the boarder.

Would love to see that 500 on the road up here  :yesnod:

What part of Canuk land did it go ?

And tot he OP I bought mine the other way around from US and brought it up here. Was as mentioned. No such thing as a title up here just a registration. As long as you have the registration in the buyers name and a notarized bill of sale drop off the papaerwork at the CDn border 72 hours before bringing it across.

So here is the my deal.
Fri night we left my home 15 miles north of Baltimore Maryland and drove all night towards Canada Alexander Bay. We arrived at the border at 6am. we received the normal interrogations nothing out of the ordinary (canadian Border Police). We continued to our destination arriving at 9 am. We inspected and purchased the vehicle then drove towards the border. At the border you need the following documentation to declare the vehicle and get it in the country.

1. US Passport (if you are a us citizen) drivers lisence and birth certificate won't cut it.
2. Bill Of Sale and Canadian registration. They don't issue titles in Canada only registrations
3. Proof of manufacture in the United States meaning a copy of a us state title before it went to Canada if available etc...Something!!! The U on the fender tag most of the time wont cut it unless the CBP is a car guy or girl. Don't forget your GTS books good reference material.
4.Date of production.... if it is more than 25 years old no bumper or theft prevention standards again take GTS reference materials.
Even if they ask the engine is not modified no matter what !!!!!!! be polite answer all the questions, laugh at their jokes.

So in conclusion it took 20 minutes of paper work. Lots of people asking to drive the car and go for a ride but the best part it was FREE yes FREE no taxes they save that for your home state because the cars are older than 21 years.
