Hi Guys.  Please take a look at the attached bracket.  There is a small raised pad near the back that causes the bottom of the part to not sit flush on the chassis (see the arrow).  Should I grind this off prior to welding it on?  Or is it necessary for proper alignment?  Thanks!

Chryco Psycho

grind it flat , just a stamping error

I think you might want that bracket to stand just a little off the frame so water can run out and not trap a lot of rust creating gunk along that frame area.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Hmmm.  That is a good point.  Water will definitely get trapped there.  I talked to Wayne Brewer and he mentioned that the tab was for a later model year that has a slot in the frame.

He also mentioned that the factory welded the brackets only on the inside "U" portion and the wings on the outside.  Does anyone have any FACTORY photos of this thing welded into place?  Thanks!

Here is a picture of the beast!  6 years in the making!

I ground mine off.  I have heard that the e-bodies had a "notch" in the frame rail that the tab fit in to center the bracket. I've never seen it myself, though...
