Door gap for window.

My build is starting to move along again (69 Charger). Got a full set of windows for it the other week and got the windows tinted whilst they were out of the car, thought it might be a bit easier. Anyway, it looks like over time the gap in the door where the window sits in has closed up. What should the measurement be between the two metal edges (without the whiskers and rubber)? The window is very hard to wind at the moment even with a ton of silicon spray. Has new whiskers and rubbers etc...

It sure looks like you have em in upside down..?? They pop down onto the door.

Yep definitely installed the correct way i.e. clipped down. But like I say, the gap looks like it has closed up. I'll pop the glass out and get another photo and post it.

Just so you know, Charger whiskers are specific, they also come for b-bodies. (two part numbers...)

Those are the cheaper generic style cat whiskers. The wiper blade style like that are nothing but problems on these cars. The correct ones are the fuzzt stuff in and outsise the window.  Get the TopCat brand whiskers and you should be fine.

Well I checked with a spare set I've got and it definitely appears to be the right part no. I took the rubber strip and the wiskers out and measured the gap, at first I had about 23mm but managed to open it up to about 24mm or about 0.96 inches. What should the measurement be?

That brand is uses the wiper blade style. It may be listed as the correct part number, but it is nat made even close to the originals.

If you had the catwhiskers out, was the window STILL hard to roll up/down?  :scratchchin:
If so, then it's not the catwhiskers.

Sounds like the rear run channel is out of adjustment. Try adjusting that. If the  "gap" up top has closed up, you'd see a bow or damage to the door frame itself.

I just got some different types of cat whiskers, I got the ones from Dante's sent over. It took over a month to send?? Is there still a problem with the mail service over there?? Normally it would be about 10-14days. I'm looking forward to tackling this job again as it was a head f*** last time.

Phill, I,m just around the corner if you want to look at mine for a reference.

Cool, thanks man. Did you go to Armadale today?
The cat whiskers are a goer too. Windows work pretty good now but missing a few parts to finish off. Have you got any of the window stops for the door glass?
