The WWII plane videos posted got me surfing for more footage (Ships and plans fascinate me) and I stumbled across this video. Lots of cool wrecks in it.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Thanks for posting that Stretch. Did you know a B17 crashed in Porcupine Mt. Park during a training mission in the 40's? Apparently there's still some wreckage out there...

I didn't know that. Do you know if it is accessible? Can it be seen if you hike in to it? Sounds like it a could be good hiking/camping trip.

Different site, two B-17's and several P-38's under a couple of hundred feet of ice..the B-17's were crushed but on P-38 is restored and flying.

That would be a cool hike. From what I've read, most of the plane was salvaged & taken in for scrap by one of the junkyards in Ironwood. I remeber seeing one of the bent up prop's on display outside a gift shop along the shore of Lake Superior while driving to the park. A woman at the shop knew about the crash & had a picture of the flight crew hanging on the wall. It was more than 10 years ago when I spoke to her. Now with the internet, there's lots of info on it, with pictures & directions to find the crash site. I've been wanting to hike out there too, but time it seems...has not been on my side. As you've said before, "These are the times that try a mans soul".
