That really was a rare bird.  I just watched a show on that model/type plane.  It had the engine in the rear and a drive shaft under the pilot to the prop.  The U.S. ordered a bunch and then decided they didn't like them or the liked something else more.  So they sent them to the Russians who used them very effectively as an antitank aircraft.

Great story. Sad for the pilot and his family though....

Interesting notation at the end about the Harrison Radiator. My '72 Corvette (and others) had a factory Harrison coolant catch tank (and radiator I assume). They are still in business and owned by GM.
