I am just wondering which oil viscosity you guys run in your Charger. Normally I use 10W-30 in just about everything I drive, but I wanna use the factory recomended oil in the Charger 400ci. AND, would you guys recomend using a silicon oil like Mobil 1?

Will it matter once I get the engine built up the way I want it, about 400 to 500HP?

u meant synthetic right? :D :D

summer 20-50w, winter 15-40w, but 10-30w is good for winter if its a daily driver and 10-40w is good for summer.  totally matters on (1) where you will park your car(2) how often you will drive it and (3) when (i.e. time of year) you will be driving it.

Recently switched to Rotella 15w-40 meant for diesel engines after a cam lobe died, buy it at Wal-Mart.  Still has the Zinc etc. in it that has been reduced in other automotive oils for emissions purposes.

Also use a few ounces of General Motors E. O. S. (Engine Oil Supplement), has ultra-high content of Zinc, etc.  Marketed as an assembly lube, but quasi-labled as an oil supplement.  Roundabout way of GM getting the Zinc back up in the engine oil.  :icon_smile_wink:  Available online, or at GM dealer part's counters.

*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

I just bought some of that for my oil change this spring.
I wonder if I'll notice any difference between it and the plain 10w40 I was using.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.
