Was lookin for a pic of the #88 car when i stumbled upon this home made clone



and the correct picture should be this car which is also my favourite daytona  . -Matt

Sort of.   That is chassis DC-74.  Chrysler painted it up to look like the real #88 which is chassis 093.

DC-74 is the prototype mule Daytona that had the skinny little wing at one time.    It was an illegal '68 Charger race car exiled from NASCAR to the proving grounds.

Oh yeah almost forgot that tid bit of info that car is the small wing mule car and the actual #88 car was found behind a shop sometime ago and had been rebodied as a 74 but the front clip was in the weeds and such.-Matt

Here is a recent photo of the real #88 that ran in the January issue of the DSAC newsletter.    The engine is done.   The block is one of the actual race engineering blocks that actually ran in the car at one time.   The Charger body has been mounted correctly.   The original nose and front clip assembly has been restored and is very close to being finished.    A lot of time has been spent undoing modifications done to the car after 1971.   Cotton Owens supplied a new NOS cross flow radiator and other bits.   The car when finished will be exactly as it was on 3/24/70 when it set the record.
