Please look at this picture and tell me if this steering wheel in my 69 is correct.

Looks like an odd 68 wheel that didnt show up too much, has the all the way around horn ring. I dont think Ive seen one on a 69 that was correct, but never say never......

Actually it has the partial horn ring. The car seems to be complete and doesn't appear to have ever been modified. I assumed it was the original wheel until I read a recent thread asking about steering wheels.
I didn't see a picture of the wheel in the dealer book on the Hamtramck sight.

That steering wheel does not look correct for a '69 model but it may have been changed out a long time ago. My '69 has the standard wheeel in it with the half-ring horn that is on the chart but, the chart does not show my deluxe wheelcovers (15" Hemi-models) that I know came on my car and show up on some charts. I guess the charts changed slightly in the model year but I still do not think your steering wheel is correct.

I went to the Hamtramck site and looked at the dealer book. the wheel is the standard steering wheel for the '68 Charger and Charger R/T.
I am wondering if they put these into the earlier build cars to use them up or maybe they couldn't get the standard 69 wheels early in production.
My build sheet has a code of 12 X9 under the Steering Wheel Horn pad section of the broadcast sheet. there is no number in the section for all the "S" codes.
Does anyone know if this is the correct wheel for the codes on the broadcast sheet listed above?
Maybe Chris from the registry would know.

Just for your info. , my buildsheet also has the code "12X9" in the steering wheel/horn ring area and my SPD is 314 , or mid-March 1969 at the Hamtramnck plant. It has the pictured standard half-ring horn ring.

THe wheel itself is actuall the same. The horn pad for a 69 will replace the ring and center pad.

I don't mind the wheel. I was just curious if it was possible it was installed at the factory because they had leftover wheels or some other reason.

not entirely true Brian. The design of the wheel is the same but the material is different. The 68 wheel pictured is made up of a duller urethane like plastic which didn't crack as much as the shinyer hard plastic 69 wheel.
The wheel pictured is a 68 wheel & not avail for 69 unless maybe the car was a veeery early Aug 68 build that might have slipped through with a 68 wheel?
