How many options for rocker panel molding for '71?

I always thought there was only one option for rocker panel molding, a thin piece running along the bottom, then I see Tim's car, and it looks much thicker. Now the questions is, where can I get one?

bajaherbie

i have those on my 73 SE...... but there are little studs on the top that they trim hangs on and several screws that go along the bottom edge. don't know how you would add the studs but maybe someone else does.

Nacho-RT74

I never have seen those in a non 73/74 SE

Frank Mitchel sell some NOS in $400

BTW that one doens't look to be the same than the 73/74 SE... it looks more flat

I have a base 71 with those studs on the bottom. At one point the last owner removed them, too bad id keep them
I came here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, but I'm all out of bubble gum.

bajaherbie

mine are pretty nasty, a bit of 35+ years of road tar and gunk..... what is a good way to clean them. i can respray the black not problem.

didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I think it was called the Sill molding and it is option number "M25". It was standard on the 500 and cost $22.30 for other charger models. But the price book states NA on the R/T and Super Bee. I do think that Tim told me that Super Bee was once owned by a dealer mechanic and the mechanic added many options from a SE to the Bee.

The Super Bee in this ad has them, and the three press photos from Aug. 1970.

And this ad for a Charger R/T.

Here is the '71 catalog with a SE

Thanks, but I think the molding your showing is this, (I think I took this pic from someone here  ;)):

I'm looking for the wider ones for 1971, like the kind on a '73-'74.

They were on my original '74 Rallye WH23. Must have been a trim option. When I removed them for new paint, all of the mounting pins, clips and screw holes looked factory.

Well, I got a set, I'm going to clean them up a little and mount them on my '71, I mocked them up to the car with some tape and they look killer! Ties the whole thing together, imo. Anyone have pic of those clips, so I can fab some up?

Thant would be great!
:2thumbs:

bajaherbie

got a few pics.... the dark color doesn't help though. there are 7 studs each side- 5  on the door and 2 on the quarter panel. the front end has a hole or two for sheetmetal screws. the bottom edge also has several holes for sheetmetal screws to attach it to the bottom of the rocker.

the wide rocker trim has a lip that slips over on the top of the 7 studs and then the sheetmetal screws go in to hold it all in place. here is a pic of the trim hanging on the studs but it is just hanging there and not fully in place for the screws to go in.

also one pic of the back of the molding, not a good pic but i think you can see the lip in the foreground.
