I haven't posted on here in awhile but I've been around. In between work and some major home renovations I have made some progress on my 66 so I thought I would share...

Car was purchased from Kentucky and hauled back here to Wisconsin a few years ago. First year it pretty much sat in my garage untouched. Second year I started gathering parts which was not an easy (or cheap) task. Then the car was totally disassembled, and started with repairing the floor pans and welding in the sub frame connectors. Now I am at the point where the body has been stripped and the bodywork on the shell has been finished. I'm about to start the bodywork on the bolt on panels next.

I will keep posting as I go along. I am going to do everything myself with the exception of the machine work on the block and the transmission.

Any comments, advice, or criticism is welcomed!

Made some more progress.   The 469 has been picked up from Kilpatrick racing.  High volume oil pump, Hemi 1/2 inch pick up, Eagle crank and rods, Comp cams solid lifters and 540 lift cam, etc...

Found a set of 906 heads that are about to be dropped off for the head work.

Trans is almost done, nice rebuild, reverse manual valve body.....

Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical,
      a liberal, oh fanatical, criminal.
Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're
acceptable, respectable, oh presentable, a vegetable!

piwo440

Had factory undercoating, just re did it after the sub frame connectors were welded in.

Big fat meats on the back are a must!

Carlisle is probably not going to happen, (sigh) spending a few bucks on the car now and have a few local and out of state shows that I'm going to this year.

Thanks for all the compliments!!

Going to try this again. For some reason it wouldn't let me attach any pics the last time I tried.

Haven't been on here much but I have made some progress on my car. Tail light harness is repaired and installed... All the exterior trim has been fixed, cleaned, polished, and installed.. all the side glass has been installed, including the 1/4 glass which is a nightmare on these cars..main 2 carpet sections are in, and the dash frame has been gone through and painted, ready for installation as soon as I get my gauge cluster back

the bottom of my doors are white with my white interior car..the outside is cream. This all changed in 67 I believe

The car looks fantastic. First class job. I had a lot of problems posting pics when I first came here. I have a routine that works pretty good now. I simply make a reduced size copy of the image down to less than 200kb and in the process I rename the copy with a reasonably long title then save it to a file on my desk top. I haven't had a problem since.
Keep posting.

piwo440

Thanks for the compliments!

My door bottoms are supposed to be white. Painted them when I painted everything else. I kind of like it but might change it one of these days.  Obviously with my build I'm not looking for 100% accurate.

I did the whole interior, so far everything but the 727 and the machine work on the block was done by me, trying to keep it that way to save money as well as being able to say that I did everything myself.

Sorry for misleading you on that part... I recovered and refoamed the seats, repaired and re dyed the headliner, as far as the door panels, armrests, visors, and all the interior parts.... I started with the best pieces that I could find.  They started out as red, green, black and one or two white pieces.  I repaired any rips, and tried buying the pearl white interior dye from Herb's Parts but the color just wasn't right. Turned out almost pearl gold. So.... what I ended up doing was time consuming but worth it.

It helps that I work in a collision shop.  I was able to mix up a pearl color that was close to the pearl white interior, matching it to my new seat covers. After everything was fixed, I mixed up a grey sealer with flex additive so that everything would cover evenly.  Then sprayed the white basecoat followed by the pearl coats.  After that the clear was applied, and since I didn't want the interior to be shiny I used a gloss reducing additive along with more flex additive. Did the same thing with the black dash pad.

My painter my shop used this same proccess for his motorcycle seat 4 years ago and hasn't had a problem!

The Herbs stuff says pearl white but is really pearl.
I found that if you spray the item with white vinyl paint, then shoot it with the Herbs pearl, they come out fine.
But it is a bit misleading.

piwo440

I layed down a white base (from Herb's) followed by the pearl, didn't turn out at all.  Awesome people though, Herb himself worked with me trying to figure it out.  We compared notes, tecniques, etc... after all that he admitted that there was something wrong and snt me my money back.
Ron Gasior

That picture is of the new ACC seat covers. The door panels are just based white and the armrest has the pearl. The problem was with the white base... has a goldish yellow tint to it.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that I used Rust-Oleum fabric & vinyl white off the shelf. (At The Time) I thought it was too white, but with the pearl on it, it is perfect.
