i learned something new today as well. i never knew there was a long version. my car never had them when i bought it. when i got new bumpers they came short.

My car had the long ones on it from the factory and I just had the original ones rechromed so, ............ I vote the long ones.  Mine has a SPD on the fender tag of 314 by the way.

Could be plant-dependant but not likely. Mine was built at the Hamtramck plant.

I sent a letter to Chrysler regarding this subject.The response was that it is time related with no cast in stone date.IIRC it was late nov.

My 69 and the 69 parts car both had short ones when I bought the cars. I got an AMD repo front bumper on there now, so it still has the short ones.

 I always thought it was a vendor related thing that they ran short of them half way through the Model Yr. and the new ones were made a bit taller to help protect the "I" piece. but which Factory used which when i belive would be impossible to pin down. mine was a july 16th build date. near to - if not the last - Wk. of production. When i seriously crimped mine in '99 through no fault of my own, i had a two Yr. search to find replacments from local wrecking yards. i prefer them myself.

7/18/69 was the last day of production for the '69 model year.

Funny thing is that I have NO cars registered from 7/12-7/17....wonder if they took the week off???

If I remember correctly, Chris guessed mine at 8/5/68 based on another car in the registry 50 or so units after mine. St. Louis car that had short guards on it. No guards currently.

Weren't the taller ones available as an option? Or, standard on SE cars??
I thought you could get either tall or short bumperettes in '69?

Ill rephrase that....the last date that I know of for the production of '69 Charger model year....
