Yeah the car looks great with the wax and buff. Up here in the rust belt we pray our cars look that good even after the body shop!

Bird looks to be pretty solid Allen.  :2thumbs: Looks like the trunk floor would pass the basketball test.  :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: If you kinow what I mean which I'm sure you do.  ;) Looking good.  :2thumbs:

Thanks Dave... might have trouble keeping golf balls in the trunk at a spot or two...  need to clean out the trunk and check, but I believe the trunk floor is toast.  Also, rust around the rear window and trunk opening... and a spot at the top of the windshield.

Thanks... The 'Bird is looking better than I expected so far.  Rubbing out the oxidized paint by hand is taking too long, might need to buy a couple of pads for my 7 in. power buffer!  At least there's no worries about rubbing through the paint on the edges of the body panels...

Speaking of garage, back to the Daytona and finishing up the carpet... Looking real good. Glad I got the ECS version.....

:coolgleamA:  :o   thats a good site !! ,
thanks for sharing
think i'll join up there to see if anyone has any old pictures & info of the original  selling dealer of my charger  :yesnod:
i wont hijack Allens thread
 by posting  other stuff

heres the  O.R.MITCHELL dealer nameplate picture ! i mentioned in my above post  :yesnod: not hijacking or anything  ,  but same dealer   :yesnod:

Thanks for posting the pic, and no problem with hi-jacking... I already hi-jacked this thread to ramble on about the FM3 GTX... ;)  As I recall your car came from Nowell in Arlington, Texas... I will see what I can find on the newspaper archive sites that I am using...

While we wait and see if the original owner supplies some back-in-the-day pics, I  will post some more before clean-up pictures.  Later I will post new pics to show how the 'Bird cleans up...

First the worst side of the car, the passenger side that you have already been seeing pics of.  It is still in work, but starting to look a bit better...

 :2thumbs:
more good pictures !! wow that thing looks well straight  :drool5:  awesome stuff  :yesnod:
looking forward to seeing more !!  :popcrn:

Talked to the original owner again briefly on Saturday...

> One of his favorite races at the track was a showdown with a Boss 429 Mustang... the 'Bird won of course!
> He remembers the wing being silver, but does not remember why it was painted like that (it has been 35 years or so...)
> On one of his road trips, he met someone driving a dark blue Daytona with a black tail stripe and possibly other black "trim" who was from California.  They met in west Texas, and parked the cars together to take pictures... he is not sure if he still has them.  Ideas on who this CA guy was ???   :popcrn:

Slowly working on my cars since the weather has cooled off.  Worked on the `Cuda 440-6, the Daytona, and the Superbird yesterday.  As the Daytona is coming apart as needed to begin the front frame repair, the Superbird is having it's parts returned.  For the most part, Aero Car unique parts were removed while the cars were in public storage... in theory making them harder to identify when the storage unit's doors were open.

The removed items have been kept in a well marked box, some having been wrapped up since 1995...  All were clearly labeled for easy identification.

Time for an update...  "Clean-Up needed on Aisle 1"... something has blocked it off!

A friend and I re-installed the nose cone onto the Superbird without the headlight assemblies.  It was a last minute decision, and the headlight assemblies were left off to save time.  A friend who teaches a 6th grade Science class had planned to use my `Cuda and Challenger for a video about scaling objects and their features, by making a video with various scale sizes of diecast/plastic models displayed with the "1:1" actual car.  Because the two cars were in a small garage, the video would had to have be taken outside to get the entire car into the framing of the shot.  Well, the weekend was too windy for that due to the narration needed for the video.

So the decision was made to shoot the video inside the "Dodge Mahal" workshop, with the triple black Charger and Superbird displayed with the model cars.  I expect to get a copy of the edited final video within the next 2-3 weeks...

The short video was "filmed" with an iPad!... amazing video quality for something that looks like a small clipboard!
