71 RT tailights into 71 SE

I purchased a set of 71 RT tailights complete in beautiful shape. When I tried to put them into my 71 SE the bezels have the lights on the bottom side of the bezel. The SE has them straight out the back of the bezel. They don't want to fit into the opening. The unit itself looks like an exact fit , but the bezel in the back pushes the light sockets into the metal behind the bumper.

I'm stuck and open to any suggestions. I really want to use these lights as they are in perfect shape.

Thanks

Are the bezels on upside down? The sockets on the R/T housings should be on the bottoms of the housing. The bezel will fit either way but the correct configuration is with the sockets on bottom. Also there are three mounting points if I remember correctly and they will be off if you have them upside down.  :Twocents:

I did the same thing for my Super Bee.  No fitment problems here and I think all the bumpers are the same.
Most of your life should be "off the record."

I agree, do you have them in correctly? As stated sockets will be on the bottom. If you still have an issue post up a pic, maybe someone installed something that isnt supposed to be there...all the 71-4 rear lights are interchangeable.

Make sure you are putting the housings in from the back side of the bumper, I believe it's easier that way. IIRC.
