after reading several threads of people talking about crappy MP TC's i was wondering on what type that most of us have??

when i first rebuilt mine in 94 the local drag race shop had me get a smaller (10 inch?? 1970? stock 340 cuda converter (front spline changed to 67-later type) and with the shift kit and the 3.23's i really loved the car
when i put the GV overdrive in it this time i was told by "regular" folks, to  get the 175K converter from MP, figuring the final engine in the car will be around 600 TQ i was hoping this converter would be enough, but since i still haven't driven it yet.............

what do you have and which motor and what TQ rating if known, especially the TQ rating as every converter will react differently to different levels

thanks

I use a Turbo Action 10" (tight street) converter with 3.55's and a GV unit.  Love it!  It feels almost like a stock converter until you mat the pedal.  It then flashes to about 3500rpm.  But I don't think I'm close to 600lbs. of torque.   Bob

I have a custom 11" Pro Street Hemi style convertor from COAN Racing designed to match the power curve of my build. My little kitten puts out a near table flat 610 foot pounds of torque from 2800 to 4000 before it starts to dip a little.

is that  coan for strip only or is it surviving on the highway??

It's an 11" street unit... nothing fancy really... it's basically a stock Hemi style unit for the street that has been beefed up a bit, and has a little higher than stock stall... 2800 if I remember correctly. I would have to look at the paperwork again to be certain.

Simply put... I sent them the Dyno results from my build, told them it was going in a 67 Charger with a 727 TF Auto, 3.54 Dana, and 295/50/15" rear tires, and that it will be highway driven 99% of the time and that's all I really cared about.
