69 rear quarter window problems-HELP

I put my rear q windows in and when I roll them up,the top part of the glass wants to go too far inside. I have adjusted everything like 15 times,I've had another guy come and look at them with the same results. Am I correct in assuming that,if I bring the bottom adjustments in and the top adjustments out,that should take care of it? It doesn't. I have tried having all mounts loose and rolling it up and nothing seems to work. It is a power window set-up that was previously in and working. The rollers all seem idiot proof as they only appear to be able to go in where they are (it is pretty much the same as manual windows,just with a motor). I am looking at this as a kind of (looking at the whole window set-up from bottom to top of rolled up window) "teeter-totter" effect,is this correct? The guy that was helping me now knows another guy (w/manual windows) having the exact same problem. ANY help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings.

It is a pain working on them i did mine years  ago took ages to get it adjusted to the point where i was happy.
Did you take them both out at the same time. I always leave one in so i can see how it goes back together then do the other side.
Someone might chime in who has just put there ones back in recently.
Have you put it all back correctly. ? Good luck working it out.

poppa

They were both out but,were in before and working.
Correct,the windows won't lay up against the weatherstrip,it's like curved in too far at the top. Pics are kinda crappy.

  thanks for the pictures !!

see picture below  , took that of mine & numbered it as i was stripping the charger before the resto   , dont take any notice of the white circles , they were helping with  something  else
been 10 years since i done this , but its all coming back now !!  took a good weekend  to do the lot , ( putting the original rubber weather strips back , ( the new repoped weather strips had me going round in circles for over a week  trying to align it up  :RantExplode: , don't even want to go there  , metro repops were crap  :RantExplode: :yesnod: , look an awesome product but wait till you try a close doors & stuff ) even after leaving the doors closed for a year , still S**T ! no joke !!  wrote  quite a long post on the subject a while back  :scratchchin:

  ****providing its all back togeather correctly & no rollers seized & in their correct postions / engauged in their tracks ****

first slacken the  glass up stops a little   bolts 11 & 12   front  & 1 rear  circled in green !
then
the three inwards & out wards adjustment bolts are circled in red ( A / B / C )  ,  slacken off the locking nuts a little(more if you need more adjustment)  (A /B /C  )  & put a wrench on the hex adjuster in the middle  this moves the rollers - runner out or in , after adjusting A & B with the glass in the up position ,  if the glass is stiff  winding it up or down adjust the lower adjuster C as required !  then tighten lock nuts finger tight will do at first !! as  fine tweeking might be required  on both front & rear side glass a few time to get the optimum alignment your happy with ,  once your happy tighten lock nuts with a wrench no need to go mad , , hold the centre adjuster with another so it don't move when tightening !
set the required rolled up height  &  tighten the  up stop bolts !
having said this !!  have you set & aligned the door glass  , that needs to be done first ,  it may sound a little confusing , but once you figure out whats going on !! its easy !! just time consuming

The bolt in the picture marked A & one at the bottom of the track have a double adjustment , you can undo the locknut & rotate the inner shaft in & out , in you case the bottom ones needs to be adjusted inward to tip the top of the window outward , the top one will need adjusting as well to get it lined up right

Been a while since I worked on windows.IIRC there is a slotted adjustment on the back of this pce.
My other suggestion(you may have tried this already) is stop the window part way up them turn adjustment bolts and see what the glass is doing.

gasoline_24

Not sure if this will help, but I had the same problem as you and took the passenger rear window in and out around 50 times.  Finally I put the upper door pad on and it pushed the glass out to where it would run up and down perfectly.  Not sure that is how it is suppose to work, but it worked on mine.

If it's that simple...I'm gonna be p*ssed. I will try tonight, hopefully ,as I started to put it back in.

UFO,Yes I tried that already. Thanks all.

Not to highjack, but how is your mom doing.

poppa

Thanks for asking. She seems a little better physically,still pretty much confused. We will hopefully be moving her to a different facility by Monday. She keeps taking the neck brace off and Tuesday she got mean with the nurse. I guess she wanted out and threw a cup of water at the nurse. Not herself. Thanks again

Made some progress. Turns out my inner frame (where the entire window assembly bolts to) was bent. Don't know how I missed that before. Anyhow, did some heating/straightening and got the window to align!  :boogie:

Blue=part that is bent
Red=where is should be...roughly.

Tan top thanks. Yours seems to go into the "groove" while most of the other ones I've seen at shows lays on the outer part just below the chrome rail. Mine has a problem in the back with going up between the fuzzy and the roof weatherstrip.

yes the rear side glass rolls up & sits behind the lip , its the front that lays up against it , because the door glass moves out obviously when the door opens & would be constantly  catching other wise ,  , now the repop roof rail weather strips i had &   just layed up against it !   at the back where roof weather strip goes down between the fuzzy strip !! it is just continues in the roof rail gutter & is about 2 or 3 inches  longer that the channel its just left hanging , !!
