Your job

What is the one thing about your job that you love most?

For me it's the opportunity to work on the classic cars in town. My dad is, and always has been big in the car clubs. A lot of the "car guys" in town know I have a classic car and they know I care and won't do a half assed job, or get careless and scratch it. One of the "big" car builders in town had me do a alignment on a '40 ford he just finnished. It had fatman drop spindles up front and a 9" in the rear. He had a 327 with original od trany in it. He watched me put electrical tape on the painted wheels where the alignment heads would attach and put shop rags between the hoist pads and the frame. He complemented me on the "extra effort" and he now brings all of his hot rods here. He also sends everyone else who is looking for mechanical work of about any kind here too.

The "cool" cars do bring some stress into my shop but they are a nice change from the every day cars that I spend most of my time on.

Whats the best part you ask? I have to test drive every car before and after I work on it. I know... I know... It sucks but it's part of the job! :icon_smile_big:

I hove loads of pics of the "cool cars" I get in here. I have them in a album I call; what else?........ "Cool shit I get to work on".
I may be schizophrenic but at least I have us!

I can honestly say that my job sucks...completely...and is draining the will to live out of me more everyday.
The only good thing is when I leave it every day.

Yet, as I leave, I also dread the thought of returning to it tomorrow.

I did get a nice week-long trip to Malta out of it this summer!! :2thumbs:

But then I had to come back. :-\

Oh, and it's got a dental plan.  ::)
And medical.
And a pension.
And paid prescriptions.
And five weeks of annual holidays.

I really don't have a problem with going to work and fix the customers cars...

It's the 9 hour wait to go home that kinda pisses me off!

About the only good thing I can say about my JOB is that I wear a lot of different hats, which is good for someone like me. :shortbus:
One minute I'm an electrical engineer, the next a mechanical engineer, an hour later I'm a pipefitter installing a pump or maybe an electronics tech troubleshooting a broken piece of equipment... then maybe later I'll be a security watch officer or an administrator... sometimes I'm a draftsmen and sometimes a designer... of course some days I'm a planner and some days a purchasing agent... a painter, a tin knocker, R & D, test engineer, tech writer, cleaner, mechanic, consultant, etc,etc,etc... you name it... Cheif Cook & Bottle Washer, that's me.

If I have to waste 8.5 hours of my life everyday at work when I could be home doing something constructive... so be it, just don't bore me.
