You don't have it mocked up correctly. Your pics show it backwards and upside down compared to where the installed pics show it. The curved end in goes in the bracket above the control arm. The straight end goes against the firewall plate.

That looks all wrong --What year is it ???? :shruggy:
What the Hell-Dumass !

I have the XV braces and they don't look like that. Assuming they should look similar...

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

The plate will help, but the tube is slightly better than nothing. Strength comes from triangulation and that doesnt really seem to be as strong point of this installation.

Welding the cut and curved end to sheetmetal at the firewall is close to useless. You could improve it by spreading the load with a 6"x6" (or thereabout) flat plate.

They couldnt notch the tube in the supplied kit? Lame.

Ok, so I thought that just maybe they used those connectors on one of the cars they built so I dug around on their web site. Follow this link and click through about the next 5 images:

That's from pages 9 and 10 of this group of pictures of a 69 Coronet:

:2thumbs:

plate welded above the shock tower , yeah a little :yesnod:

, but that bent bit of tube going to a small plate on the outer edge of the fitre wall , is a joke !! whats that going to do !! ! now if that tube was part of a 8 point cage on the other side of  the fire wall &  it was running along the top past & attaching to the shock tower & tieing in on the front of the frame rail it would be a different story  :Twocents:

So did the kit come with the plate for the firewall?

When you install, attach the curved portion at the firewall to the outermost point that it will reach (checking for tire clearance). That will give you the best triangulation and installation.

Have fun!
