General Discussion
This is the place for general Automotive Discussion and, for now, a place to discuss the new forum. I must have  missed the "charger only" part in that.

The site I found this pic on said that GM people are saying that we won't see a rear wheel drive Chevy car again for sometime. The '06 Monte Carlo has a V8, but it still front drive.  ::)

Now that is alot better and looks more like it should. I think this concept pictured was
actually done by an amateur...dont ask me how I know.  :icon_smile_angry:

new camaro concept looks like a cts on steroids, probably will share the platform if they make it.

70 E bodies look a lot like camaros, short ass/long nose squarish bodies.  can't be a coincidence.

I really like the look of that car, other than like everyone else has said, the awkward curve in the grille. The lines on the roof look cool too. I think it is light years ahead of any camaro that they have built in the last 30-35 years. Same thing I think can be said about the Mustang.

And finally the big three understand that if they want to sell cars to americans and be competitive with the Japanese, they have to build cars that don't look or have the feel of a japanese car. I don't like any of those cars with the slanted front ends like the big three have been building for the last 25 years. And I think it is cool that GM, DCX, and Ford are probing back into a market where the Japs can't touch them, the American Musclecar!

Here's a website with better pictures:

I think the silver shows off the car's lines much better. The interior is pretty cool too.

They just need to put a '69 RS camaro front clip on it.

I think that '08 Camaro is a beautiful car. From what I read GM and Chrysler took two different approaches to the respective designs. The Chally concept stuck closer to the 70 design while the Camaro concept took the more aggressive futuristic/classic blend look. I am sure that the other two Chally concepts that where not presented may have followed more of GM's approach. My hat is off to both auto makers.

Side note: I believe if the Chally is build it could bring down some of the prices of the classic MOPARS. For example. If I had 30K I can buy a brand new HEMI Chally, under warranty and on payments - and have a sweat reliable car. That money could have went to buy a 69 Charger or 70 Chally/Cuda. Supply demand. Maybe it will bring the prices down on these high priced MOPARS. Just a thought.

I doubt it will bring the prices down that far on the Classic iron. However if it come down a little, it might be a huge thing for some people.

I think the new Camaro looks nice except for the Caddy grille, it just doesn't blend well with the rest of the car. If, (and that's a big if) the 2 concept cars make it into production, (Camaro & Challenger) it will be the first time in a very long time that there is serious competition between the "big three" for a performance car that looks good. In my opinion, the last time there was any was long before I was old enough to drive. This could be reminiscent of the late 60's & early 70's. Of course you know what that could mean. Soon after these 3 cars hit the streets they'll be replaced with crappy cars later on like the mid to late 70's.  ::)

I'd love to see the new Mustang, the Camaro & the Challenger (that's if it isn't just a cartoon car) compete against each other at the track, or just even bench racing. One of my friends who's a big Chebby lover likes the new Challenger, but would probably end up a Camaro owner just because he wouldn't want me busting his chops about jumping ship. I'd love to have a brand new Hemi Challenger & roll up next to his Camaro just to flip him the bird.  :D

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I'm pretty sure we saw drawings of the Camaro concept LOOOONG before the Challenger concept was even known about. In fact, I believe they were floating around when the Creeder pencil sketch catastrophe hit the internet. I can see being brand loyal, but I think saying that GM copied their ideas from the Challenger is a little far fetched. Also, if you really think this concept is ugly, I might have to question your taste. IMO this actually has some really nice lines reminiscent of the '69 Camaro. Personally I think the grille is too pointed and if they just brought the headlights out forward more and had only a slight point in the center, this design is ready for market, and as already stated WILL sell thousands upon thousands.

The Musclecar WARS are back kids....go buy your favorite flavor and join in!!!!!

I dont doubt that GM may well sell thousands, that goes without saying if only due to "brand loyalty" and the fact that it's GM. That dosent mean that the Camaro concept is necessarily beautiful though. I do admit, I like some of it (the overall body styling) but the front & rear ends just dont do it for me. The Challenger concept on the other hand is just about as near perfect as anything to come out of the automotive industry in a very long time. Even the much hated crosshair grille done up this way is beautiful and subtle. The winner? hands down, Challenger (Camaro dosent even come close) Now if you want to argue Camaro/new Charger....well I'll have to go with the bowtie there.... :icon_smile_wink:
BTW: I STILL think the Challenger concept needs work...the lower opening on the front valence needs to look more agressive (maybe turned down)....right now it looks like a Raggedy Ann smile..

What about those tail lights?  I really like it, overall! It would look better in a different color.
I must admit, the Challenger is serious eye candy. Looks better than the Camaro. We are driving to Detroit Fri. to see them in the flesh.

What is it with carmakers these days?
They all want to repeat a few "signature" lines on their popular cars to carry over from one restyling to the next.
That's fine in theory.  But the problem is that they always pick an ugly-ass incarnation of the car to canonize!

Did anyone actually like the Mopar "crosshair" thing they've been pushing for a decade now?  It's getting inappropriately dropped onto cars just for its own sake at this point.

Ditto for the Corvette's modern look.  They picked one look from the past to carry over for all the modern Vettes, and it had to be the ugly 1980s car that stopped looking good about the same time Van Halen broke up.

Now GM is probably gonna want to put pointy front ends & shark-ish lines on all its F-bodies too, just to link them with their past models from the 1990s.  Good plan, GM:  Pick the worst-selling F-body you ever did, and remind everyone of THAT one with the new car.
