Does anyone have a picture of a kickdown lever for 1969 Charger, 318, 904?

This diagram is obviously not the right car, but part #11 is what I need a picture of:

I was installing kickdown linkage today that was stated to be from a 1969 Charger, 318, 904 (which is what my car is also). My car was missing the lever, so I tried one from a junkyard 727 (unknown year). It looked more or less like the one in the above diagram (i.e., straight rather than L-shaped or hockey stick-shaped). It bolted/clamped on fine, but the lower rod of the kickdown linkage was too long to work properly with it. I could hook it up, but I had to push the kickdown lever nearly all the way rearward to do so.

I think I've seen some kickdown levers in pictures that were L-shaped or hockey stick-shaped, and it seems like something like that is what I need (to give the extra distance for the lower rod to connect properly). A straight lever that mounted at a different angle than the 727 lever would probably work too.

There are numerous types of TP levers; unlike shift levers none are anything but straight but there is a difference in the clocking of the "D" shaped hole where the lever attaches to the transmission shaft.

Sounds like you might have the type of lever with the canted hole like the lower ones in the pic below and need one with a straight hole like the row above them.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks for those pictures and explanation. I'll bet the clocking of the D-shaped hole is the problem.

Yes, I think the lever from the 727 does indeed have the canted hole, which makes it angle toward the front of the car when installed.

Question: Do I need to worry about whether the lever comes from a 727 or a 904 and/or worry about the year of the transmission? In other words, can I just use one off any Torqueflite that has the straight hole as long as the linkage rod will physically connect to it?

Because of the different lengths of even the straight-hole levers, it's important to have the correct one for your car/engine/transmission. I'm going to venture a guess that the top right lever in the pic above is correct for your car.

Have to take a look, had a 70 318 auto I stripped out years ago, should be the same, let you know.

Thanks, but I already have one on the way.
