And with the engines, I used the term hydrolocking.  I'm not quite sure what went on, but spraying water down the cylinders caused something to happen that bent some push rods.

So fun stuff, lets hope the damage isn't as bad as they say.

I thought hydrolocking is when your head gasket goes allowing communication between the cylinder and water jacket.  It happened to my old girlfriends father on an Olds' 455.  The piston then acts like a big syring sucking water out of the water jacket.  On the next cycle it bends the rod.

Lets home the Daytona I found doesn't have any bend rods.  It doesn't look like pistons were ever removed.

TheAutoArchaeologist

Eh, don't know if you guys are interesting in what I found before the Daytona.  But here it is.  Some GM stuff, a Rallye Challenger though.

Sorry to bring up an old thread.

I stopped by my friends with the Daytona yesterday... while they were having a Pirate themed birthday party... but that's another story.

I know you guys hate seeing this stuff.  But until all the other Aero cars I found this summer come out in print............ this is what I can share.

Also we dug through the garage and found the original valve covers and the mesh piece for the nose.

Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Especially when it looks like there are building around to try and house it in.

StoneCold

Obviously that dry junk in the shed means more to them :rotz:
They will let the car go when the cowl is laying in the dirt  :2thumbs:

The garage is slowly collapsing. So they don't want it to get crushed.  The garage has just been collapsing for a decade or two.

Garage is collapsing, Daytona is rotting away, and yet they don't sell it to give someone a chance at bringing it back to life and put some money in their pocket to repair something they do intend on keeping.

Makes no sense.....

Ryan, did you ever tell them that they can get a good penny for this car now?   Depending on where this car is at, they could reside their house, put a new roof on it, and have some money left offer for a better car.

My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

For decades, people have approached the owner of the Daytona as it has moved from place to place.    The owners do know the car has value.   In fact, the car has gone up in value over time since the photo below was taken in 1990, in a different location.   About the same story: a newish garage filled with junk and the car sits outside.   About all that is different is the other junk cars around it.

I am unable to explain why they are not willing to get the car under cover.

TheAutoArchaeologist

Like Aero said,  they do know the car is valuable.  They just don't care to do anything with it right now.  With me constantly (well twice this year and a article in Hot Rod) showing enthusiasm for the car.  They were talking about trying to move it into the steel barn behind the garage they had.

I told them that I could help with that.  And told them I would be in touch.

So we shall see.

Maybe if someone offered to buy all the other vehicles and stuff around it would leave the Daytona exposed to where the owner might notice it more and do something about it? I would like to have that Cadillac.
