You guys will poke fun at me for being froo-froo, but I only buy fresh beans (roasted less than a week ago) from a local place here in Nashville and grind it myself with a burr grinder I bought a while back.   Usually do it through a drip machine, but when I'm feeling froggy I do it up in a French Press and drink it straight up.   Nothing better to me.  I love coffee and drink quarts of it daily.
I use to drink mine that with a touch on Cinnamon a while back.

Just regular folgers or whatever...   a little half n half or light cream and a little sugar...   a lot less sugar than I used to take.   :Twocents:

Folgers Classic and just straight up Black.

My wife and I use to drink about 4-6 pots per day. About 6 months ago a buddy ended up in the hospital with stomach issues. One thing they told him was to stop drinking coffee as it causes heartburn. My wife started drinking hot tea and shortly after I started drinking solar tea. No more heartburn here for either of us..

Went out with some friends and I was feeling kind of groggy. So I ordered coffee. Holy crap did it light my stomach up!!!!  Right back to solar tea for me.. No sugar, no nothing. I use 4 tea bags per gallon of water and leave it in the sun for about 4-6 hours.. Then remove the tea bags and put it in the fridge. Good to go....  ;)

I drink iced tea all day long and one double shot of espresso to start my day. But my favorite is sun tea on the weekends.  :2thumbs:

Pardon my ignorance but could we just use a sun lamp to save time?  :icon_smile_big:

Just black coffee. If you throw out the really bad and the really good they average out very close.

I'm cheap, I like to save electricity. You should try wind power, gives the tea a natural taste.

You sit on it, hence wind power.

:smilielol:   But seriously, I don't comprehend the solar/sun thing at all. Are there health benefits?

Heats the water, slowly steeping the tea.

But what's the difference between letting it steep in boiling water and cool to drinking temperature?

Using the sun's rays to make tea can facilitate the growth of bacteria, making it taste better. Really, sun tea started down South where people did not have electricity.

WOW a topic from two years ago!  Now I've cut out the sugar and just have a shot of milk in my Dunkin Donuts (brewed at home) coffee.  :2thumbs:

Make some as you would naturally and then some as sun tea.  You'll be able to taste the difference.  Some things are just worth waiting for.

Love the aroma of coffee, but not really into the flavor. My mom gets this special chocolate mint coffee every winter that smells awesome....I'd bottle it and sell it if I could.

I believe it is the process of slow brewing the tea that gives sun tea a smoother flavor. The bacteria growing in your jar could actually make you sick, so be careful. I would suggest filling your jar with tepid water and tea, then brewing overnight in the fridge.

The sun's UV rays will actually sanitize it.
Hospitals use UV lights in the duct work to eliminate germs spreading.

I have been making and drinking solar tea for more than 30 years. As far as I can tell I am still alive!!    :shruggy:
