He attacks, forcing you to defend yourself/family and you kill him. Waiting for police you see a wad of $100 bills sticking out of his pocket (drug money you suspect). Do you...

Of course this is a ridiculous question, but it has sparked many a colorful discussion at work...thought I'd drop it here  :popcrn:

Take the money, F*** him.  He lost his right to it when he threatened me and my family.  As for his other valuables, leave them for the cops.  They probably belong to some other victim.

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.  ~A. Einstein

yea...what 'NanaDan said....it's not like he's gonna use it anymore

I would take the money - I would assume it was mine to begin with...    he did break into my house to steal stuff...      I'd take it to pay for any damages including the cleaning bill to mop his brains up off my tile floor...        :yesnod:

But what is it wasn't drug money?  Maybe he just mugged your nice 85 year old neighbor for her SS money.  I wouldn't feel so comfortable taking it under those circumstances, not to mention possible legal problems.

That's a tough one. At first thought, I'm inclined to agree with all the above.. Sure I could use the money for lots of things including the Charger, But then the whole "Thou shalt not steal" and the integrity thing comes to mind... chances are it belongs to someone he's just robbed.

Honestly, it would be hard to say without it actually happening.

I'd leave it, but if anyone does decide to take it, leave a receipt or the IRS will give you more grief than a burglar ever will.   :Twocents:

Take it all. There won't be enough of him left to prove he was ever there.

How am I supposed to know that he didn't break in to give me that money?

Shoot him & kill him, take nothing from him - self defense.

Shoot him, kill him & then rob him - motive for murder.

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

This question doesn't make sense. Why would I phone the police? I live in the middle of nowhere.

so technically, if you shot the burglar, would it still make a noise?

Depends on if any blood got on the money, could be traced. Course if the wife saw it first, then all bets are off.  :smilielol:.

Yeah right do you really think he would brake into your home with that much money on him.

The money is not and never was yours.  If you take it, then you are no better than the thief you just killed.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

If I just killed an armed burglar, the last thing on my mind is what of his I could take/was owed/was just forfeited to me. I would make sure my family was all right first, and then call my friend(s) in the Police Department to come collect it. I don't want anything that was his.  :rotz:

:yesnod: Realistically speaking, I imagine most people would be too shaken to think about doing something like that after popping someone. I might consider trying to keep the blood off my carpet but not about going through the guy's pockets. That would be pretty sick and weird IMO.

I would leave it alone! Not even thinking about taking it. I might even bag it up as evidence and call the police and tell them I did it, that way no one gets it!! :2thumbs:

If $$$ is ever found you dont ever go out and drop a wad and buy something with it.   You got to launder it.   Find 30g's in a paper sack you dont go to the Dodge deal and pay cash for a new car. Put it away and spend it for all your cash needs.  Pay cash for your gas, food and dining out and so forth and let the $$$ from your paycheck you normally would spend for that stuff build up in the account.
