And I was going to buy the little woman a new Viper for Xmas.  I guess that's out the window now........

More useless "journalism"...

Here are a few of the choices I'd have to disagree with:

I was going to make a comment after the Nationals that every Viper must come standard with a model. It seemed like every one there had at least one reasonably hot young woman near it or in it. One race car also had what appeared to be a mother and grandmother helping out in the pits. The rest of the show was 99.9999% male.

If the writer had spent 1/10th of a second in any part of rural America he'd have also noticed that there are a fair amount of women who own, drive, and love big 4x4 trucks.

The Beetle is probably the #2 "chick car" after the Mazda Miata. If you're a guy and you're driving one you may very well be gay (it comes with a flower after all) but your girlfriends will still love riding around with you. The new one apparently doesn't have the same appeal.

They may be half right on the muscle cars - nearly everyone I know who has one is a male. However, the compliments come from all over (probably weighted towards males but not nearly as much as the ownership ratio). I tend to think most women would rather be a passenger than have to deal with driving/maintaining one.

Jeeps? The kind of girls I gravitate towards (outdoorsy, athletic, etc.) tend to drive these. Prissy girls with perfect hair will almost never be found in one.

This must have been all about bashing American cars since I didn't see a single foreign car other than the Volkswagen. What about mid-80s Volvos, Audis, and BMWs? What about 60s British cars? Anything from the mid-70s to the early 90s could have made the list (except possibly the exotics). It sounds like the author asked a few female acquaintances over lunch and decided to write a story. Honestly, most women (who aren't car buffs) can't even name any of the cars on the road so how they came up with some of those answers (without leading questions) is suspect.

I can't believe I just wasted that much time on something this ridiculous...

Haha! I just noticed that the article has an 84% "thumbs down" rating so I guess I'm not alone (for once).

HEy that reminds me, if women ruled the world from Funny Pics:

I call Bullshit on that article.
Most PT Cruisers I see have a chick driving them, especially the two-door and drop-top versions.

I just attended an all-Mopar show where a chick - the original owner - brought her Viper to display.

Obviously the writer of this article has never been to northern Alberta. Practically every jacked-up and jerked-off 4x4 is driven by a petite female.
I think they dig the view from up there!

Volkswagen Beetle convertibles are sold exclusively to women...and gay men.

They did hit the nail right on the head about the lifted trucks, or as we know them here in SoCal,  "Bro-dozers".

I get a lot of compliments from chicks about how badass my 08 Charger is, but they usually end with something like "but it would be too big for me to drive" or "it's too 'muscle car' for me".

Yeah, the writer is an imbecile. I see at least 7 or 8 of the vehicles listed as enticements to women. Heck, my wife would want to drive everything on the list except for a monster truck, & that's only because she'd bitch about needing to use a ladder to get in & out of it.

I would tend to agree with you & Dan I live in the same area as Dan Sonora Ca. foothills of the Sierras & a lot of women drive some very nice 4x4's, Jeeps & Pick-ups here... the people writing must be S.F. , LA or New York based & clueless, so unrealistic in their views, I have also seen a few women in Vipers, 1 very influential 1 Tammy Allen a notable car collector seen on Barret Jackson Auctions, but mostly older middle aged balding guys like me (I wish I had a Viper)...

That article was just pure crap. Of course, it's fairly representative of 90% of "journalism" now that any hack can publish something on the web for people to read, or slanted "news" you find on TV bought and paid for by special interests.

Women claim they are repelled by big trucks & Vipers, and the writer believes them?

Yeah, okay.

I'll bet the author also believes women like nice guys rather than egocentric jerks too.

I'm from Idaho, and women that I usually bump into love either (or both) A.) Big Lifted trucks. or B.) Muscle cars. BECAUSE "They're loud and smell of coolant and burnt rubber."

last 5 random woman age 21 - 40 that have noticed my car tattoos I've talked to I've had basically this same exact conversation (I work as security at a bar in downtown Boise)

Woman: Noticing my mopar tattoo* Whats a Mopar?

Me: Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Plymouth, etc..

Woman: What kind of Cars do you have?

Me: 69 Charger, 2011 Ram, 70 Dodge Truck (to keep from having to explain what a D100 is)

Woman: Are the trucks lifted, I love big lifted trucks.

Me: No  :icon_smile_blackeye:

OR

Woman: OOOO heres my number I want you to take me for a ride in the Charger, I love the sound and smell of muscle cars..

Me: :o ***in my head*** I really need to get the charger on the street  :brickwall:

So I take from this.... the only car a girl will want to be with you in is a Toyota Camry?

No sports cars, no muscle cars, no jeeps, no quirky cars, no luxury SUVs... I think the writer is more afraid of his own self perception, because I would think a girl would want to see a guy with a little bit of character instead of a whole lot of blandness....

I take it that his control sample consisted of liberal / asexual women (Prius owners), or lesbians (Subaru owners) or as I refer to them, "LESBARU" The author probably wears panties, and can't understand why anyone  needs to express their personality, or show pride of ownership of an automobile...yep the same kinda azzhole who will fling his door open into another persons property, and think nothing of it = "its just a car"

How many guys drive cars to impress women? i think most are actually trying to impress other guys (not in a gay way). same as prehistoric men would show how big a stone they could carry (scots still do this). I reckon the cops that ride horses would get the most attention from women.

Darkman

I think the article is directed at the guy who owns the vehicle rather than the vehicle itself.

Just some examples:

A woman would look at a VW beetle and drive because it is "cute" and fun. Put a guy behind the wheel she would think of him as  :girlfight: and be turned off

A woman would see a guy driving a Viper and probably think he is old, bald and has small manhood

Women would be happy driving and owning a mini monster truck, but if they see a guy driving it would think he is already dating his sister

There are plenty of exceptions to the rule:

A guy who drives the VW beetle could be seen secure in "manhood" (the kind of guy that would wear a pink shirt) and settled in life which is attractive to some women

A guy who drives the Viper is loaded and ready to kick the bucket. The prospect of becoming rich quickly is attractive to some women (term "gold digger" may be appropriate in this instance

A guy who drives a mini monster truck could be her brother (need I say more  :icon_smile_big: )
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

If you think Education is difficult, try being stupid!

come to Venezuela and is even worst... all 4x4 Vehicles are chick magnets here, Jeep, Toyotas newer version of FJ45 which I don't know the series number, Mitsu Monteros etc, EVEN RAISED!!!... HUMMERS TOO, but not because the car on this case, really because the economical status of the owner meaning ( pure money interest )...

on the list appears the new beetle. I still don't remember a man driving one of those locally, although not to many of those are riding around.
