The rain has finally set in here in NJ.  I was lucky enough to get a generator today to keep the sump and fridge running, but I hope I don't have to use it.  PSE&G is warning everyone in NJ that it could take 3 weeks for a complete restoration of power services state-wide.  They must be setting low expectations so they look like rockstars after taking 5-6 days to fix everything.  3 weeks seems excessive.

Everyone stay safe.

Yeah, pouring rain here in Ct.  I have a 2,500 watt gen for sale on Craiglist.  When the power is out and the basements start to flood the calls will come in.

It finally stopped raining here and the wind has died down. Hope you guys fare well. 3 weeks sounds quite excessive. Keep us posted...

Ran my nurse wife to work this am.  Trees down everywhere and almost coulnt get home.  Our power is out so the home gen is running.

Last night it was just a few bands of rain and a gentle breeze.    Went to Ruby Tuesday and made a few stops for supplies on the way home.

This morning...  heavy winds and heavy rain.    Power is still up.      Got the generator and some gas ready in case.   Probably just hanging out today looking out the window or watching TV while things still work.

Looks like the eye has pretty much collapsed and it's just a big messy storm and it'll probably start picking up steam heading north.

All the stuff you have and you don't have a generator? :slap:

I was selling a generator on Craig list yesterday.  I decided to delete the post and keep it for back up.  Right now it's at my sisters running the fridge and powering the tv for her and my mom.  Glad I kept it.   :2thumbs:

The storm is pulling away, just a light steady rain now.  I was mostly a non-event for us thankfully.  Our power is still on, basement is dry and no trees down in our nearby area, but we're under a boil water advisory.  We lucked out.  I'm going out in a bit to survey the town, check the Charger in the garage I rent and take pictures.  I hope all of you fare well too.

Glad to hear it was less than expected. It's a nice sunny day today. Just waiting to see when we can get back to the house. The caretaker (staying in Corolla in the northern part of the OBX) said that he hasn't been able to get there due to the road being blocked...I assume with mostly sand. Apparently the road is washed out or under-cut in places and there are "boats in the road". We just have to sit and wait I suppose...

Everything has pretty much stopped here with exception to pumping out a couple of inches of water from my basement.  ::)

There's a nice breeze, the sun is trying to break through since it's getting brighter, & no loss of power. The best part of the water in my basement was when the cat walked into the puddle that it didn't see & freaked out.    :smilielol:

I went for a ride in El Grande and this tree tried to take me out....  close call.

Aside from that...  looks like the rain is starting to let up.   My basement is dry,  I still have power, tv, phone and internet.   I got some 10' lengths of 4" flex hose and put them on my gutter downspouts to take that extra water away from the foundation and out into the yard.

Just went out for a bit to check on the Charger and she's ok, all tucked in and dry in her garage.  The downtown area of my town had some flooding though.  Pics and vids are here.  That river you see is usually a tiny trickle.

Thanks Ron. We're driving the Queen Family Truckster, aka Honda Odyssey with my wife and son. We can't get back to the house yet due to the roads being blocked by standing water and debris. We're at my sister-in-law's in Va. now. We have to call tomorrow a.m. to get an update...

We lost power around 10 am. Still out, running on generator. Usually when the power goes out so does the cable, first time in 10 years I'm able to surf the web with no power. My neighbor about a quarter mile down the road had a huge tree come down between her cottage and her outhouse. Ripped the power off the side of her cottage. Until that's fixed I'm assuming we won't be getting power back. Living on a dead end private road we are at the bottom of the fix it list.

That sucks. I just found out that our big willow tree next to the garage where I keep the Charger came down in the wind today. Lucky it didn't hit anyone or the garage, but a big mess to clean up. My son and I were pretty upset to see this as I planted it when he was very young and it was our favorite tree. My niece emailed this pic to me. I'll have to assess the situation when I get home. Never a dull moment... ::)

Power blinked on and off a few times during the day but that's about it. Wind has just picked up again but rain appears to be done.

We had the same, fortunately.  However there seems to be lots of flooding in the surrounding areas. Best to all that bore the brunt of the storm.

I wonder if a back Joe could stand it back up and give it a chance to re attach and live?

I was kind of thinking that, but it's a huge tree...much bigger than it looks in the photo...probably 30 ft tall or so, and at least 30 ft wide. Plus the root system is so shallow. I just don't think it's salvagable...
