opinions please

I ordered a repro front spoiler for my car and I'm not sure if I like it or not. I mounted it with 3m tape so I could see what it looked like before I drilled holes and made it permanent. I snaped a few pics and pulled it back off. I'm not sure what it is about it. Could it be that it's just such a big change from what my car has looked like for the 16 years I've had it? Is it mounted back too far? Is it that I know that the '73 cars never came with them? Or is it that it isn't what I had pictured in my minds eye when I ordered it.

Looks good.  I always thought my 3rd gen looked better with the spoiler. My only problem was occasionally scraping it on a steep driveway at my old house.

Although I like the front spoiler and it looks great on your car in the picture, I'm not quite sure about it either.  I did the same thing with my 72 Rallye, bought one but never put it on because it makes the front end appear heavier or thicker to me.  But either way, you have an awesome Charger there. 

By the way, what size are your front rims?  Are those 15x8 with a 4.5" backspace?  They sit nicely in the wheel well.  I've always thought my 15x7's sit too far in.  I'd like to get some wheels that fit more like yours.  Thanks...

I guess I'm the odd man out. I have always thought that these chin spoilers disrupt the clean flowing lines of the car. I wouldnt say that I hate them, but I think the cars look better without them. The other factor is "busy-ness". Your car with the side stripes, top, wheels, chrome trim, hood paint treatment, etc. already looks loaded. There is certain tipping point where there is, just simply stated: "Too much crap bolted on". In line with this thinking, I do appreciate the look of these spoilers (and wings) on cars that have a more stripped-down race look to them where your eyes are not being assaulted with 40 other flashy items.

Sometimes more is not better. The car looks killer as-is!

I agree with you, plus it didn't come on that car that year.  Kinda like putting a pistol grip in a 69.

Nice looking 3rd gen..  I like it without the spoiler.  The spoilers are cool, but look better straight-on.  The angled pic makes it look like a mustache to me.  I am sure it looks fine in person though.

It doesn't look bad, but if it were mine, I like it without the spoiler. Something about the spoiler on there just doesn't look right to me. Now the chin spoilers they put on the '71-'72 Roadrunners, that were split out on the corners......

They are the same all the way around. 15X8 with 4.5 backspace. The front tires are P235-60-R15's and the rear tires are P295-50-15's.

Yes. I'm not sold on it. I love the way they look on every 3rd gen I've seen but there's just somthing about it on my car. I think it may just be me and how much I've tryed to keep it as original as possable all these years. I took the bumperets off right away and packed them in a box. I hated them on it. I love it without them even with the slots in the rear valance. It took me 15 years to finaly put my headders on it and thats a bolt on part. I love the headers bay the way. The H.P. gane is unreal. I knew the stock manifolds were restrictive but DAMN!!! By the seat of the pants it feels like 40 H.P. The stock manifolds are in the box with the bumperets.

I bought it from First Place auto products. It was $195.00 with tax and shipping. It is made from the original molds, it's made from the same material as the original and has chryslers markings in it. It's a very nice piece. It also came with the correct fasteners.  Fritz is awesome to deal with. I would recomend them to anyone.

Make me an offer on this one. I'm pretty sure I don't want it.

I like it, seems to set off your stripe, were you planning on painting it if you kept it? My computer is not the best color wise so it looks similar to the stripe to me.

Well, I haqve trouble with anything that I KNOW will cause what little fuel mileage I have to drop even further with a huge Air Dam in front like that...However, I do think it looks kinda cool, but trying to hard to look like a brand X IMO...

Bob. Would you post a picture of your car from the side? I would like to see how far forward you have your spoiler mounted. I think part of the reason I don't care for it on my car is I may have it too far rearward.

Bob, Thanks for the pic. Yours seems to be at less of an angle. How close to the valance/fender seam is the rear edge? Mine is damn near on top of that seam.  How far back is yours from the turn signal lens? I agree with you, color has alot to do with it. It looks great on yours.

Jason, the chin spoilers were a dealership installed item so the positioning is only close at best from car to car. Here is how I did it.

Maybe try 3Ming a rear spoiler on.  A '71 spoiler that is.

I don't see many cars with just the front spoiler/s on.  Usually it's only the rear.  To me, if you're gonna run the front one, you need the rear one.   

I was like you, I 3M'ed my eye brow spoilers on my '71 'cuda cause I didn't know if I'd like them.  Afterwards, I was like, "who are you kiddin'?  they look awesome"   

I'm about 70/30 for liking it.

I like the go wing on cars that came with them but I'm not big on them on cars that didn't. I won't ever put a go wing on this car. Perhaps the reason for me being on the fence about the front one has alot to do with why I won't do a rear one.

Bob. I knew they were deler instaled. Yours does appear to be alittle forward of where I had mine. It also appeares to be at less of an angle. I went back and looked at some of the pics I have of it on there and I think a big part of the problem is when I stuck it on there I had a "sag" through the middle of it. You can see it in the pics from the right side but not the ones from the left.
