Please help fire and prosecute this sick human being.....>>>>>

Please sign this petition to fire and prosecute Dawn Blackmar, the Director of Harris County Animal Control.

This sick bitch has allowed, if not outright required, among other illegal practices, the killing of animals in front of other animals. This means puppies and kittens in front of their mothers, and vice versa. Simply put, a sick individual like this should not be running animal shelters. If you love, or even just like animals, please sign and repost this on other forums you visit. I don't normally ask people to do these kinds of things, but I'm asking people to help out here. No calling people, marching, or writing letters. Just a little cut and paste. If you won't, please at least sign the petition.

http://www.change.org/petitions/prosecute-dawn-blackmar-for-breaking-texas-state-law

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and whatever you choose to do.

But if you hate animals, or think this is bulls***, kindly post it in your own thread.

Thanks, man. I really mean it.

After having seen the whistle blower videos they've showed on the local news channels, I was ready to show up at a meeting and cuss her out in person. :RantExplode:

It's silly to argue that she allows killing in front of other animals.  C'mon.  When I used to hunt and kill one duck out of a flock of 100 the remaining 99 weren't sitting shiva.

There may be an issue with that woman but it is not clear from the posting or video.  Irresponsible pet owners have to take the responsibility to have their pets spayed and neutered (thanks Bob Barker).  It is their fault.  This woman is just a bureaucrat trying to do her job.  It's not pretty when you have to kill pets.

As an aside, I want to know when Republicans, specifically FOX news, start caring as much for aging seniors and homeless as they pretend to care for basset hounds.   Kim

It's impossible to reply to a post seeking removal of a political person without delving into the political motivation behind the post.  But what is most interesting is the few people who "signed" the petition who don't even know this lady or live in that county.  Impotent people sitting on their hands writing emails.  At least do like they used to do.  Stand arm in arm against the police and protest.  Don't click a mouse and think it will do anything.  By the way, research this veterinarian -- you might actually agree with her positions.  Oh, but that might involve more than one mouse click.  Kim

Man Kim,
I've sat back plenty of times and just let water go under the bridge.. But Lord have mercy. Johnny asked nicely & politely that anyone who didn't view things the way he does to kindly reframe from replying; nothing more, nothing less. I personally know Johnny and the man's a do'er, not some self-made-wanna-be-hiding-behind the internet and a mouse. He's a person that takes action when it's warranted. He's a person of character and integrity. I've seen him in action taking care of his mother.

You know, there is some truth to the saying, "The pen is mightier than the sword". Today, in the 21st century, the fountain pen has been replaced by the electrons of wizardy called the internet and email. I personally have written plenty of time to my Congressional Representatives and in today's world, that's where it starts.... Of course, one has to follow-up with it usually with a personal phone call. ( I just did that myself to my local Texas House of Representative on an issue I'm working on for my community).

Leave him and this thread alone. His feelings have nothing to do with some dang political party.................

Lord, please show some people the way...

With all due respect,
Troy

"Political Motivation"? Hardly. I think the outrage is because she is reportedly breaking State law with regards to euthanizing unclaimed animals. Generally, putting down animals is difficult to stomach, and is compounded even more so when the percentages of animals put down is so skewed compared to other locales.

Hunting has no connection to euthanizing animals.  :Twocents:  :Twocents:

Yes, responsible people need to control the breeding of their pets. Let's not go into that topic.

As the link I posted shows, it is possible to have a 94% save rate.

There are also humane ways to deal with a growing problem.

Yes, it's possible to have a 94%+ save rate. Our pound runs a little higher than that.
Yes, there are humane ways to deal with, not a growing, but ongoing problem. Owner education and a little incentive is the most effective. Since instituting a spay a neuter rebate program, we've seen our intake numbers drop.

The other problem we are seeing is the number of dogs being dumped. There are worse things than death including starvation or injuries from being hit, shot or fighting with other animals.

Thanks for making an effort and taking in what you can. That's more than some poeple are willing to do.

No worries, man. Not afraid to answer honest questions.

There'd been a rash of 'drop offs' and feral births in my neighbor in the last couple years, and after seeing kittens in my carport I caught the ones I could and after not being able to any no kill shelters in my area I (after consulting the wifey-wife) took in what I caught.

They've made good pets, as in my mind they're ultra-thankful.  :icon_smile_big:

Just doubled my pet food bills.  :scratchchin: :yesnod:

I'm centered enough in the real world to realize that not all can be saved. Either due to the economics, lack of homes, or more often then not they're not physically able to be saved (be it health or temperament issues). But they can also be 'humanely' euthanized, and not forced to watch others die in front of them, let alone be tortured by seeing their offspring, or parents, killed while they too wait to die. And kim's story about killing ducks is simply a non sequitur. They are wild animals killed for food purposes. The cats and dogs Ms. Blackmar has slaughtered are domesticated animals, and quite often were once beloved pets.

Totally different IMO.

Whoa, I am out of this conversation....FWIW..I have seen photos of kids dying in Africa of starvation...It all saddens my heart deeply...I wish I could just win the lottery and help make this world a better place.  Peace to all.

Yeah, terrible thing to live in the real world. So why don't you bleeding hearts piss misty and fill me a river.

Memory.  :smilielol:

Millions of kids get aborted in this country on an political agenda. Right in front of their mothers.

And you want me to piss misty about an animal that would be better suited for food.

Now that I am aware of the agenda, I'll be more than happy to submit to the candy ass program. After all, they have a camp set up for this, just for people like me.

Ahahhahahahahha

One morning an elderly man was walking on a nearly deserted beach. He came upon a boy surrounded by thousands and thousands of starfish. As eagerly as he could, the youngster was picking them up and throwing them back into the ocean.

Puzzled, the older man looked at the young boy and asked, "Little boy, what are you doing?"

The youth responded without looking up, "I'm trying to save these starfish, sir."

The old man chuckled aloud, and queried, "Son, there are thousands of starfish and only one of you. What difference can you make?"

Holding a starfish in his hand, the boy turned to the man and, gently tossing the starfish into the water, said, "It will make a difference to that one!"

It's not about money and it's not about saving the world. It's about finding one thing in life and unselfishly doing what you can to make it better for somone or something. Only you know what talents you have to offer. They could be anything...construction, musical, or just showing up to lend a hand. There are plenty of things that need your talents and time in the community. Even 2-3 hours a week does make a difference. Find your starfish.

we just moved to Panama & there are thousands of homeless dogs here , which is not so bad as it never drops below 75* f & food is not impossible to find , dogs survived for thousands of years without us to look after them but some are so skinny & sick with Tick fever . We rescued a very skinny female , pregnant yet again with tick fever , we have her about 10 weeks now , we had to abort the pregnancy & were still not sure she was going to make it ! She has filled out again & has a lot of energy now , the tick fever may never go away but she is far better than she was , 3 times she lost so much blood we figured she was a goner & had to have transfusions , but she is now a good guard dog , it may not have helped the other dogs we have seen around but it sure made a difference to her !!

One day I'm going to steal that story, but I'll make sure you get the credit.  :2thumbs:

To make a difference just requires starting somewhere.  :yesnod:

Wait, what?

We are still talking about dogs and cats, yes? :shruggy:
