Need some help...

OK got my tranny, rear end and exhaust installed - I have to get the parts for the tranny linage. I'm not going with a console, because I have had one in every Daytona I have owned. I'm getting tired of them. I loved the one of the Chargers I had that had a buddy seat. This allows my hottie wife to sit next to me.

The problem is, I am missing everything from the column arm to the tranny shifter, and cannot even remember what the z-bar and other parts look like and where they go. Need some help with pics - and if anyone has the parts or where to find them...

Thanks.

Jules is a GREAT guy!
A few years ago I was rebuilding a convertible top motor, and I contacted him about some brushes, he had some but he wasn't sure if they would work so he sent them to me for free, AND they worked and he still wouldn't take anything for it

Got my new Drive Shaft - in putting it in I find that the u-joint straps seem to small - Are they supposed to stretch to butt up? Or do I need bigger straps. 7260 strap and a 7290 strap - I'm guessing the 7290 strap - for a 8.75 rear end.  Any knowledge would help.

I know this is not a good pic but this shows the little gab. If this is not right what strap do I need?

pull the drive s out & measure to see which joint you have & get the correct straps, also make sure the c clips are on the cap.

So they are saying with the grease sert - you want it in the crush position instead of the stretch position? I have never cared about that in 35 years of building - but I have also never raced having all things lock in to launch either.  Thanks I will look into it.

The clips were on  - WHat do I measure? The caps?

Dane, Let me look my car was a column shift but I have switched it to a floor, I will see if I still have the linkage.

yes measure the caps!!! also this engine of yours makes some serious torque if it EVER HOOKS UP THE TIRES it could break  U JOINT, I too learned about this the hard way,i now use non greasable  solid ujoints on high torque applications

These are really good ones with high ratings - and "Six States" did all this - they are the best in Oregon (I have been told ;)

DENNY'S HEAVY DUTY is our MOST POPULAR driveshaft assembly. We have more of our HEAVY DUTY driveshafts out there in more types of cars and trucks than all the other versions combined.

The main reason is that you get the strength and reliability you need at a price you can afford. Smooth vibration free performance is what you can expect throughout your full rpm range.

With our HEAVY DUTY line we can connect just about any transmission to just about any rear end. And best of all, it is capable of handling the punishment of high performance street use and drag race applications.

In most cases we can connect this shaft to your existing transmission slip yoke and rear end pinion yoke or we can provide you with the entire package for a quick and inexpensive upgrade to your light duty OEM driveshaft.    A perfect choice for most applications.

Comes with Spicer solid body non greaseable maintenance free u-joints. These are the best choice over a greaseable joint when strength is a consideration. Ideal for STREET RODS where the messy grease splatter from a greaseable type u-joint is not desirable. These joints deliver high mileage with virtually no maintenance.

i would NOT use that small diameter pos driveshaft in a car like yours  :Twocents:

call these people www.dennysdriveshaft.com

or   http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.driveshaftspecialist.com%2F&ei=unX7UIyuFubW2gXM34GwDQ&usg=AFQjCNH6Cj7K3xSJKXQJdzRZuo_eUvrQtQ&bvm=bv.41248874,d.b2I&cad=rja

This thing is built heavy - I thought too heavy - they build shafts for everything - even huge machinery (Federal government military vehicles) - I asked them about that- They said no matter what, I could not twist this or brake it if I tried. They stand behind it for life. Believe me – I'm not worried :) But thanks - more eyes on what I do is very important to me.

Not going to do that - yet. My budget is maxed - The way I built this - it will hold. I'm not planning on launching this - the tires will spin before anything else gives way. In fact - I want the tires to spin, I don't want to torque or stress the car as a whole, or put a load on the rear window. These tires are not going to do anything but smoke :)
