Even this pic does not look the same. My Iphone changes the color. The bed looks like the true color. It is not near a neon as some of these pics make it out to be.

I actually like the shade of those fenders. I mean, your sons bed is a cool blue but the pics of the fenders is much more vibrant..... I like it!

Daytona Guy

I did everything I could to avoid "Petty Blue" that I can't stand. I will take some more pics with my XLR.

Getting closer - car is painted - now cut and buff and assembly.

I finally ordered my 572 HEMI - Mine will have the stock wrinkle valve covers and be all HEMI Orange -

Any advice on fitting this thing in my Daytona - I'm all ears.

Dane, Looks great buddy!! One question is why did you not drill the wing holes before paint??  :2thumbs:

I did not have my wing studs in the wing yet - When I do that I set the wing on the car then mark and drill - makes for a good fit. It really doesn't seem to matter. Just can't goof up :)

By that, does it mean the Indy blocks don't give you the option of choosing wedge style engine mounts?

tan top

wedge ears on a Hemi Block  , IMO  not a good idea !! thought about getting one of these blocks when mopar first started casting them, thinking good idea !! saves all the hassle  , Mancini or could or  been another were offereing   a deal on these blocks too sometime ago ( guess they wernt selling when the world block came out ) ,  trouble with the hemi head  number one exhaust port ! the  primary header tube has to bend forward & drop down under the  stock Kframe , cause the wedge motor mounts in the way on driver side

Charger-Bodie

The problem with the schumaker mounts is that they set the engine too high from what I'm told. I used a repro  HEMI k crime mega parts . Everything bolted together perfectly like its supposed to.

I know your son was on one of these posts a bit back. He said you were on Hiatus for a bit while you continue to work on your newest creation. Will you be making more of the wings? And will this also be one of the things you will be offering soon? I spoke with Larry the other day, and he said you were the man to go to if looking to build a clone. It sure looks a heck of allot easier then the real Daytona I am helping to work on right now. I think your on track with the weight issue, as those dang "Z" brackets do add a whole lot of weight to the front of this car. Have to say: "that looks bad A@@." You are truly creating a work of art and a grand high standard that only the best will be able to compete with!

Dang forgot to ask this too  :brickwall:. If the black gasket between the nose and fenders is no longer needed, how will it hold up to the twists and turns of the car? Will it absorb the vibration and movement without cracking? Is that what the reinforcement of the upper corners are for? Just asking because I remember reading somewhere that Chrysler added this gasket for the very reason and since you have done extensive testing (even taking out a deer  :2thumbs:) were there any signs of splitting or cracking in this area? Don't know enough about the aero dynamics and the vibration issues enough not to ask this question  :brickwall:.

I am going to mount my nose flush with the fenders with no gasket (looks better imo). It's not gonna move I made steel Z brackets and bought the Z bracket mounts from Larry.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

If I do I will put a thin fiber pad where it can't be seen as a lubricator. I have never had a nose crack where they meet the fender. All cars now use a butt joint just like the lower valance is joined to the fender and it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Yah, I'm not too worried about mounting things just like original, after all it is a clone. An acquaintance in Salem here who restored his original Daytona hated mounting the nose. I think the mounting of the Daytona nose is a joke of engineering. 4 bolts and my nose if off the car. I can pick up my nose, with fully functional lights (cast aluminum) with one hand. They, Ma Mopar, had to do what they did to some extent because of the steel nose, that has no self-support - like the hood it requires reinforcement. Fiberglass is pound for pound stronger than steel and has no need for reinforcements – it can stand alone, in fact it is better if it is allowed to flex if it has to, as when I hit that Deer :) Also, with my headlight design, with changing the pivot point, one screw (that acts as an inner pivot) if loosened, I can take the whole headlight out of the nose in 5 minutes.
