I bought a new Holley 850 carb for my Charger this year. I installed it and have been running it on the car for a few months now - but not a lot of miles. I was not real happy with the way it was running so I hooked up a air fuel gauge and it showed a little rich .  So I open up my new carb for the first time to change jets and found the primary fuel bowl float was crushed. It has very little movement and is probably where my problem is. I can't believe something like this makes it past their QC  :flame: How can they install badly damaged parts into a new carb?  :flame:

That kinda looks like an air pressure differential problem.  Like maybe it was manufactured on top off Mt. Everest and then shipped to Death Valley. :smilielol:  Bob

Well Eddy is no better , we had a brand new 750 & it would not run at all , we pulled the top off to find that the fuel bowl wall was missing completely & the well for the secondary air door weight was filled with fuel .
The warranty was too bad so sad , buy another carb so we did , a new Holley , I would rather have to buy a float , they are at least available & not a lot of $$

Thought I would post an update - Spoke with Holley tech support and they agreed to send me a replacement float if I send them purchase info.
When I asked what might of caused this, they said it was probably due to an air pressure change from shipping air freight. I ordered it ground from Amazon, so maybe somewhere along the line it went up in a plane. Nice to see they will make it right.  :shruggy:

I received a replacement float that went air freight and it was fine when it arrived today  - go figure!

I have been thinking about the whole pressure thing, and wouldn't it have to be sent underwater for it crush the float? I would think that if it went up in a plane and was depressurized it would balloon out - right?  :shruggy:
