I told my wife and girls we were going into town for a local cruise in at the Burger King (monthly event) and to get ice cream...I came out and my 2 year old was in the drivers seat ready to go....I was my wifes first ride in the car....she hates it because its loud, smells like gas, and I spend more time with "the girlfriend" than her....as we were going down the road, I had the vents open.....a bunch of rust/dust bunnys or whatever has collected in the 43 odd years and 10 years off the road decided to blow out all over her...the bad part was she had a skirt on   :yesnod:  I laughted the whole way into town and no I didnt shut the vent...my daughter kept saying "faster  faster"....no wonder my wife hates it

good show...unfortunately got there too late for pics but there was a 70 yellow superbird 440 4 spd car...the owner has had it for 20+ years...it has 36K original miles...I know the guy but never saw the car before...it was the unicorn before sat night...I will try to get pics of it the next time he has it out

I've had the rust dust blow out of the air vents before.  One time it was in a car that i had done sand blasting on and the sand was sand blasting my legs as i was driving.. ouch.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

With these wimmens it's like taking one camping. They simply do not appreciate how a bit of sticks and twigs in camp meals are a great source of fiber!

Aw well, the picture of your daughter and her big grin tells the whole story. I really like that color and VT combo on your car too.

Very similar thing happened the first time I took my future bride for a ride in my first Charger. We were driving down a two lane highway doing about 70. It was midsummer and hot as could be. We were both sweating. Semi blew past in the opposite direction and purged 40 years of rotten leaves out of the vents.

We were both tarred and feathered... and we were only about 20 miles in to a 100 mile drive to our destination. Man were we itching....

Lawdog, great story. You aren't alone, my wife is exactly the same. Especially about that old Mopar smell of oil and time.

I just remind her the Road Runner is an organic and free range bird.

Your Charger is looking real fine.  :2thumbs:

I finally got my wife to take a cruise. She hates the rumble and gas smell also. We were about 10 mins in the ride when I looked at her and said " doesn't it ride nice? " she was about to answer when a full size deer ran straight in front of the car, I slammed on the brakes and we went sideways as she and the tires screamed!!  After we got past that I laughed and said, yep rides great, good brakes too.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Very cute picture.  I'm pretty grateful that Rachel (my girlfriend) never complains or becomes a buzz kill, even though she would sometimes prefer the other, quieter, less smelly car with AC and better brakes.

:2thumbs:  Ahh yes.. brain wash them early I say, mine are 5&7 now and they are proficient at steering my cars around the yard sitting in my lap, they love it, especially the loud one.  My wife on the other hand, maybe its a female thing, my wife would stop on a 6 lane hwy to save a kitten but would likely call a cab or rent a car before using one of mine to drive to work (if hers as broke).   :shruggy:   That confuse me, so much of my drain is consumed with Charger stuff you would think she would have to love them, but no  :rotz:

I bet Marilyn wouldn't have looked so nice if there were 40 years of sand, dirt, bug remains and twigs blowing up through that grate.

Same here. My wife is the office manager at her work and has pictures of my/our car on her wall. Great conversation piece for the wannabe gearheads at her office.

I am super fortunate my wife of 16 years loves the sound of the Charger (505 wedge) and likes to ride in it, but will not drive it. Instead she enjoys driving her small block Dart.

There's been leaves blowing out of my vents for a year and a half! Amazing how much can collect!
