Couple Questions For Those Who R/T-ified Their '69 Chargers

I've ran into a couple snags when its come to cloning my '69 Charger into a R/T, namely the rear valance. From what I've found, the R/T tag has two prongs compared to the original "Charger" script emblem has three.

This leaves me with the conundrum of either drilling two new holes in the rear valance, finding a modern deal that won't require me to drill any holes, or giving up and sticking with the original style "Charger" emblem (which I'd rather not do).

For those of you who have "cloned" your '69 Chargers into R/Ts, what have you done? I'd love your input.

I've seen some leave their stock 3 pronged Charger script and arrows however when I finish mine, I will be putting the R/T on it. It's just a hole....can always been filled or vise-versa :Twocents:

Here's the rub: there's already three holes for the other emblem. I'd like to put the R/T tag on, but 1) need to place the R/T tag where it covers up the existing holes, and 2) need a pattern to follow so I can drill the new holes in the right spot.

terrible one

It sucks that you've already painted it but I would do it right and weld up the holes, then just mask off and repaint just the black section of the tail panel, shouldn't be too bad.

Here is a thread about emblem placement that should help you out, no measurements though: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,10560.0.html

Grind the prongs off the emblem and mount with emblem adhesive so it covers all the holes?

That's what I would do if the car were painted.

Patronus

I would fill the inner cavity first with bondo, more surface area for the tape. Use 3M brand, comes on a roll about 1 1/4" wide with a red liner. :Twocents:
