Where to buy connectors and components

Has anyone gone through their harness and replaced individual components (such as connectors)?

I am looking to do this and replace individual wires and connectors and use the original harness, but upgrade it by soldering connections and utilizing dielectric at all connections.  However, I need to replace a couple of the plastic connectors and was wondering if anyone knew of a source of these. Any help would be appreciated!

Try maybe  Dorman Products & Madelectrical.com they both have some connectors , Dorman is like the factory stuff most of the time, MegaPartsUSA.com also has a good selection of electronic parts, not the easiest site to use, but they have a bunch of useful stuff there...

what connectors do you need exactly?

I'll bet you need a dimmer switch connector at minimum

How did you know that one?  ;)

Yes, I do need that one.  Along with some of the bullet connectors, some of the 2-conductor bullet-styled connectors that have a male and a female bullet. I haven't gotten through much of it yet.  There does appear to be a meltdown in the engine compartment (unfortunately, I haven't tracked down exactly what for yet as the engine harness was completely disconnected as were the lights and etc).

rgr tht.    My suggestion would be purchasing a new engine harness, forward light harness, etc.       The dash harness - depending on condition can be replaced wire by wire as needed.    Post pics of what connectors you need and I'll see what I can dig up.    :2thumbs:

terminals are available all around from parts stores and specialized auto eletrical components dealers. Plastic plugs just from some Mopar restorers like YR1, Charger Specialties, Hoover Auto Parts, AMhightechauto ( owner is member here ).

Some of the Mopar parts restore shops carries also the terminals but a little bit priced compared with specialized shops

Alright, I have gone through the rear harness and as of right now, I would be looking to replace the fuel wire and connector (bark blue with female bullet at a right angle)

Also, I would like to replace the center parking connector with a 2 conductor so that it will illuminate with the brake lights.

Lastly, one of the reverse light connectors will need to be replaced (purple wire with straight female bullet).

I know spending several hundred dollars on new harnesses seems high, but compare that to burning up your car. It's cheap insurance in the long run, especially if there's burnt damage already. By the time you buy all the components to re wire your car, and factor in the hours of labor to do so, you could've bought 3 harnesses. :Twocents:

To be honest, I feel more confident in my work than that of a factory.  I will know exactly what was done where and will have the confidence of knowing that I went through it all and will not have issues when installed and that to me is priceless.  Plus, I am only working part time, can't afford the harnesses, have at least a year until my car is done, and have the ability/means/tools/etc. The only expense will be wire (for cents/ft) and the connectors (for at most a couple bucks a piece and most will be cents/piece).  Plus, I am taking the time to properly solder connections and use dieelectric grease in all connections as well.  Taking all these extra steps over factory, IMHO, are worth it.

yep - ever connector in my car is soldered, heat shrinked, and then installed in the connector.      :2thumbs:
