Hey guys, the 4.7 in my truck is running hot, not over heating though. On say a 90 degree day running 70 mph in about 10 mins from a cold start the gauge is between the normal mark and the hot mark and climbing (don't know why they quit putting degree readouts on gauges :brickwall:). The clutch on the fan was shot so last Fall right as it was cooling back down outside, I changed that. I noticed that all my older straight gear vehicles have a fixed fan and was wondering why the '05 has a clutch, is it a mistake on Dodge's part or is my water pump going out? Thanks.

Plastic impeller on the waterpump has shattered?!  Sending pieces into the cooling passage ways in the block.
Dont get em all out it will eventually pump a piece back thru your plastic impeller replacement and break it!

Just a thought on my part.

Thanks Todd, I'll pull the pump and have a look see, did not think about that. Should have expected to have a plastic impeller :rotz:. On another note, running 60 mph for however long I care to does not affect the temp at all no matter the temp outside. :scratchchin:

Finally problem solved. The crappy pink coolant broke down and clogged up the radiator just enough to cause a heck of a headache and it couldn't be flushed out. Beware of the pink coolant...

if you have anything in you cooling system other then the green stuff get it out of there .

all the other (orange , pink , red ) stuff will eat your intake and head gasket away
