Is there a part called the "body" that the steering will shaft goes into? It would have a hole on either side of the interior to accept the pin that goes thru the shaft. If so, I assum this "body" is what goes directly into the steering box?

Not sure which part you are talking about.

Do you see it here?

yes indeed. in the first pic, 3rd long piece from the left. it has two prongs sticking out of either side. from the second pic, it looks like that connects directly into that silver piece in the bottom left hand corner of the first pic. inside that silver part, are there 2 holes that those prongs go into? What is that silver part called? and lastly, how does that silver part connect to the steering box? thanks for the help.

it attaches to a spline on the steering box and is kept there by a roll pin that goes through the coupler (silver thing you refer to)

Thank you so much. That picture is worth a thousand words. Shows me exactly what I was wondering about. Apparently I am missing the shoes and the shoe spring. I knew there had to be something there.

Btw, the shoes, seal and clips come in the rebuild kit.

How do you remove the steering shaft from the coupling body? I slide the shaft up as far as it gos and it looks like it hits a retaining pin in the top of the coupling  body does this need to come out? I tried pulling it out with no luck whats the best way to remove it?

DC_1

Once you take the cover off, it should slide out of the body with ease

There is a small pin that presses into the coupler body. ( circled in white in this picture )
This needs to be removed before the body will slide off the lower shaft.

I found the pin at the top of the coupler body but it won't come out tried pulling it out with pliers and pushing  it out with a screwdriver any suggestions
