I watch alot of movies, because TV just sucks...3 minutes of a program and 5 minutes of commercials..I just can't stand it anymore. I need advise of good movies to see, and bad ones to stay away from.
ANYWAY, I Just saw "Fireproof" and it sucked.
To save a life, sucked...Good story line but the acting and directing was poor.

Ponch ®

you mean like just plain bad (anything on Lifetime)....or movies that are so bad, they are actually entertaining/fun to watch (Battlefield Earth / Blood For Dracula)?

One of the worst movies ever made IMO is "Two Lane Blacktop"  ::)  I know, I know, it's a classic car flick with a mega cult following, but WOW! It was BAD! I mean, they didn't even edit out all the mistakes and flubbed lines.  :smilielol: Listen, I'm as much of a car guy as anybody but, yikes! I couldn't even finish it!

Cool cars though...  :2thumbs:

I thought Drive Angry sucked ass.... I know a lot liked it, but I thought it was atrocious.  :2thumbs:

I apologized to my wife when it was over for forcing her to sit through it...

First off, here, you dropped this: '

MOVIES.

Nothing is worse than "Signs", a Mel Gibson, M. Night Shyamalan conspiracy to take your money.

Before you start and tell me that it's not about aliens, let me stop you. Yeah, I know it's about finding redemption etc, blah, blah, blah. BUT, when you wrap your message in mutha effing ALIENS, it's really hard to get past the mutha effing ALIENS, ok?

Now that I think about it, other than Sixth Sense and Devil, most M. Night Shyamalan movies have sucked HARD.

Horrible dialogue, painful plot, it just does not get any worse.  Lost $90 million. Zero, and I mean zero, laughs.

My wife and I saw the recent Seth Rogan movie "Paul" since it was part of a double feature at the local drive-in. It was so terrible that we left after the first half hour of it. Thankfully, it was the second movie and not the first, otherwise we would have had to sit through the whole thing.

I remember when I was a kid my Dad took me to see an H.G. Wells story called "Food of the Gods" at the theater. In most cases, kids never notice bad acting or the general dumbness of a movie, but this one was freaking awful & really sucked. To give you an idea of the degree of dumbness, the movie takes place on an island. Towards the end of the flick, the hero needs to blow up a dam to flood everything on the island in order to save people.  ::)

Years later I rented a movie called "Ishtar" because my wife is a Dustin Hoffman fan. This movie, with the exception of one scene in the desert where Hoffman is pretending to be an Arab & negotiating with some villains, is completely unwatchable. Hoffman's made such good movies I have to think he was on drugs when he read the script to this one & thought it was a good idea.

Now this one is so bad it's completely awesome, "The Toxic Avenger". I have to find a copy so I can get my daughter to see it.  :D

Anything with Seth Rogan is unwatchable !

When I was in high school, I dated this SUPER hot girl.  A little 5'1" fair-skinned, blue-eyed brunette.  Her parents were out of town and she had the house to herself, she wanted to go watch a movie and I went along with the full expectation that I would be closing the deal later when I brought her home.

I sat through EXACTLY 40 minutes of the movie before I looked at her and said "I can't watch any more of this shit, this movie is awful!"  She said she wanted to watch it because she thought it was pretty good.  I told her she would have to watch it alone, gave her back the keys to her car (mine was in the shop), went to the box office and called my brother to come get me and even managed to get my money back because the movie was completely unwatchable.

I actually passed up a fine piece of ass because a movie was so bad.

The movie was "Satisfaction" with Justine Bateman.  Marie never talked to me again.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

Twenty minutes into Austin Powers (the first one), I was like, "When will this end?"

The new Jackass movie I could only take about 20 minutes of and bailed on it.  Terrible stuff IMO.   :shruggy:

The piranha movie was hideous, the only thing good was the babe shots. It was pretty lame when it showed the penis get devoured.

Yea, I would say The Happening was worse than Signs but neither did much for me. I sort of liked The Village and Unbreakable but it looks like M. Knight is never going to outdo The Sixth Sense. I've ever seen Devil but that wasn't directed by Shyamalan. The Last Airbender was horrible according to many people I know.

It kinda sucked but I wouldn't go as far as saying its unwatchable. The book was VERY good, but as always, trying to make movie out of a book doesn't always work.

You know what recent movie I really didn't think was all that great? Avatar. There, I said it. Yeah, lots of innovative and flashy SFX, but the story itself is well worn out and predictable.

Maybe its me but I thought "Skyline" bit the big one. I like a good alien movie but this one got lost about 20 minutes in.  Then it kinda looked like they were setting us up for a sequel before they made a good movie to start with.

I have never been a fan of watching vampire, alien, or unbelievable movies.   :Twocents:

The more realistic the better...I loved the Movie "Lincoln Lawyer".

Sabre

Avatar sucked

I kept hearing how it was a must see movie.  The biggest movie of all time they tell me.  So I bought the DVD and sat through and watched it.  Within the first half hour I wanted to know how much longer that piece of crap was going to last.  I finished it though but it was torture.

Hmm, I must have misread the topic heading as a lot of these movies are over 3 years old. Talk about hijacks....

But as long as we are discussing old movies...I found "Signs" to be a good movie, and have enjoyed it many times. "Zardoz" was one of those to watch once so you could say you did, and any young Bruce Campbell flicks were unintentionally laughable (thank God for "Burn Notice", though, to resurrect his career). But I submit "Incubus" as one of the worst of all time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incubus_%281966_film%29. It's a good thing that Gene Roddenberry apparently didn't see this before casting "Star Trek".  :yesnod:

The special effects were cutting edge and nothing short of awesome but the white-guilt story line? See below:

Yeah I know it's old but the worst movie I ever saw was The Gods Must Be Crazy.

The exception was the scene where they pulled their "Jeep?" into a garage to fuel up and the attendant squirted the windshield to clean it. There was no windshield so the girl got squirted in the eyes.
I laughed for a moment..................
Gotta love a '69

My wife & I took our daughter & her friend to see "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" at the drive in. After being disappointed by the remake of the original with Mark Wahlberg, I didn't expect this one to be too good, but I was surprised & thought it was really good & recommend it to all ape fans. The special effects are good, the story line is good, & the cast isn't bad either.

Of course the original is still my favorite, having seen it in the theater as a kid with my Dad when it came out.  :D

I liked Paul. I thought "2012" to be perhaps the worst piece of crap I've seen in a very long time.

Black Charger

I remember my wife renting The Happening. I thought it was so mind-numbingly stupid that I laughed through most of it. The Final Destination movies I have seen also sucked pretty badly.

Kern Dog

Someone wrote recently that action movies would be far less exciting if the hero had to abide by the laws of physics.

TheGhost

Napoleon Dynamite.

The only movie I've ever tried to watch, that I was unable to finish.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I absolutely LOVE bad movies. I'm a diehard MST3K and Rifftrax fan too, so I've seen a lot of them. For my money, "Space Mutiny" and the David Carradine "Future Force" and "Future Zone" are the best of the worst. They're like the pinnacle of failure, and I love them for it.

For newer movies, my worst would have to include:

1. the "Twilight" movies. bad on every level. (But hilarious on Riffftrax)
2. Drive Angry. terrible but a lot of fun.
3. Avatar. pretty but shallow, with a storyline that's been done countless times before.
4. Matrix: Revolutions. killed the trilogy. with hammers.
5. the "Star Wars" prequels.

For the best, I'd have to go with (in no particular order):

1. District 9. One of the best scifi movies of the last ten years, IMO. A bit political but still very solid.
2. MOON. not a huge movie but very well done, and very much performance based.
3. HOT FUZZ. No explanation needed.
4. Harry Browne. The best revenge flick since Unforgiven.
5. The Exorcist. older that 5 years, but no horror movie made since has been as good. I forgot about Gran Torino.  :icon_smile_big:
