Body Bolt Kits

I may have asked this before, but I went through my posts and didn't see anything.

I could swear I remember seeing someone offering a FULL body bolt kit for cars. I'm hoping to find a kit that has ALL the fasteners needed to put the car back together. I realize it will be spendy, but it would be nice to have all new bolts, speed nuts, and screws when she starts going back together. I've seen that R/T specialties offers a couple complete bolt kits, but for a Challenger. I didn't see anything on their website about complete bolt kits for a Charger, or even just a B-body.

Please help if anyone knows of anything!

Thanks!

MegaParts carries a bunch of kits but I don't remember seeing one for the complete car. You can try looking though:

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

AMK and Mr G's has the full kits. I have been researching correct nuts and bolts recently. I found every single nut and bolt but the ones I needed. Hope that helps.

I looked through Megaparts, but didn't have much luck. They had about everything you'd ever need, individually, but I only saw a couple kits. The best kit seemed to have pretty much everything, but it was only for the Challenger. Thanks though Troy!!

I checked out the AMK and Mr G's sites, and between the two of them, they seem to have exactly what I was looking for. Mr G's had good prices too, relatively speaking that is. It adds up quick!!, but the convenience of having all the nuts and bolts seperately packaged and ready to go will be priceless. I've heard sometimes that these kits don't have the exact bolt, but my restoration is not numbers matching, so I really don't care if it's exact. I've had this car for over 25 years now, so it's not going anywhere!! Once it's done, it will be something I'm happy with, and I'm ok with that!!

Thanks guys!!! I'd send you guys both rep points if we had that here!! :icon_smile_big: Hint, hint Troy!!!  :icon_smile_big:

yes some bolt & screw kits do not have the exact ones , as OEM  few i had in a 69 charger body fastener/hardware  kit were different  but still worked  most were exact copys though!  ,   ended up wire brushing / acid dipping  all !! well  !! , most  of the  original ones in the end  ,  & used a mix of repop & originals where possible :yesnod:

I agree TanTop. If I were building a numbers matching car, to concourse condition, I'd be more careful about choosing EXACTLY the right one for the right spot, but in my situation, I'm just looking to have everything I need to bolt things back together, as well as all the little speed nuts and clips to bolt to.

Not knowing exactly what I need, it was a little daunting to look at the HUGE lists of bolts, clips, screws, and everything else to go with it. It will be great to have individually wrapped sets for the different applications as I start to go back together.

No offense meant ,,,,,, but then you can imagine how daunting it would be to put a kit together to cover each and every variation for each and every model of each and every year

in a word, not going to happen.

FrnkNsteen

No offense taken GTX, but in truth, it does happen. Both AMK and Mr. G's had a number of kits to cover all the different models of cars. Will they be 100% complete, I would say no, but it's a heck of a lot closer than I am right now.

Bottom line,.... If they can charge enough to cover their time involved, it would be a good business. The hardest part would be getting the intitial bill of material together for the different cars. Once your list of fasteners is complete, it's just having pickers bag and tag pouches with with the appropriate kit numbers.

Actually there were quite a few vendors that sold kits for individual things, like a kit for the fasteners to attach the hood to the hinges and the hinges to the car. They just didn't bundle all those little kits together for a master kit like AMK and Mr. G's did.

I was more than happy to find these vendors. Like Tan Top said, I will also try to use as many of the original fasteners as I can, but it will sure be nice to have these kits to fall back on!!  :2thumbs:

I'm a dealer for AMK.
They kits offered thru AMK is a chassis and various engine fastener kits. No body kits.

As an example - for chargers alone. You would need an individual kit for each year due to the little nuances of each such as tail light differences, grille differences, outer door scoops on 70's only. sidemarker differences. etc etc.

As an example just the plastic grille spacers are unique to each year , 68 is black with a metal spacer, 69's are all black plastic, 70's are all white plastic.

I sell a boatload of smaller individual engine small kits, for valve covers, oil pans, pulleys . but probably haven't sold more than a 1/2 dozen full engine kits in 6 plus years

I'm not saying a body kit isn't avail. just be prepaired for variations and or/ excessive parts left over from each kit .

I bought a bucket o bolts from wildcat auto wrecking at www.wildcatmopars.com. When they tear down a b body they throw all the fasteners in a 5 gallon steel bucket. It was $50 plus $95 shipping cause it weighs a ton. It won't be totally complete but it will get you much closer depending on what you're trying to do.
Plans are useless; planning is indispensible.
Especially with an old car!
