Is the facelifted new Charger selling quicker than the 06 ones?

The proportions are certainly better i like that for sure.. but the chance of DODGE selling both a two door chally and a two door charger are zilch,.. put another way, if you had to choose which two door would be sold - would you rather they keep and update the Challenger or introduce a new Two-door Charger?..   :scratchchin:

Having driven a new challenger and loved every minute of it, I would definitely choose a two door charger.  While I love the new challenger (they did a great job with it), challengers were never my thing.  I always wanted a '68 or '69 charger, and finally got a '69.  I would buy a modern two door retro charger faster than a guy on here will slam you for suggesting they build one, and that's pretty darn fast......   :icon_smile_big:

Of course, it couldn't JUST be a two door version of what the '11 car looks like, it would have to have a '68 or '69 front end, proper dual scallops on the doors, be longer so they could put the front side markers on the fenders, and among other things, it would have to be offered in auto or manual tranny.  (heck, I'd even like a wing window, call me crazy....)

But if you were the guy that made the decision to build both at the same time, you would find yourself in the unemployement line.

Wouldn't mind picking up an '11 Rallye in a couple of years, that's for sure.  Local dealers can't keep the new Chargers on the lots.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

You'll notice that the question I responded to was: If you ahd to choose between the current challenger or a new 2 door charger....NOT both at the same time, nor did I mention that at all.

Geeez! Lighten up Francis.   You were included in a conversation,  not a personally attacked.

My point was it would be a bad business decision to make both two doors.   First it would split the Fiat's 2wd retro market share not double it, which your comment reinforces.   Second, it would pretty much double the costs.   In the end making it (2dr charger) is a bad business move.  Which is why you'll never see a 2dr Charger produced.  At least at the same time as a Challenger.  But probably never ( for the reasons Brock points out).

You see? No need to be defensive. We were just three cars guys having a conversation.  This same exchange could have taken place in a waiting room, a car show, or a bus, with strangers, or with friends.    :2thumbs:

To reply to the original question, unfortunately no. The newly redesigned and refreshed Chargers are not outselling the previous iterations. According to Detroit News, "Dodge's muscular, all-new Charger has failed to ignite sales with a 17 percent drop in sales for the first six months, including a 15 percent falloff in June."

Frankly, it's because 1) the economy has tanked and nobody is buying much of anything these days, and 2) it looks less "gangsta" so it doesn't have that "urban" appeal.

And my point was, I answered a question about selling an apple or an orange, and you keep insisiting that the question I answered had something to do with selling apples and oranges.

I have no reason to "lighten up", and I didn't accuse anyone of anything.  IE, no need to keep stating something that has nothing to do with my original post.

Nothing defensive about it, I was correcting you, because you were, and are, wrong concerning the question at hand.  Nothing personal, you just happen to be incorrect.

Please read what was asked higher up in the thread, and stop with the "it would be a bad business decision to make both two doors", that was not the question.  Your becoming borderline trollish with this.......

If I had a pressing need for a car instead of a truck I'd really have to look hard at the new Charger.  I love the new back end and the side treatment...not thrilled about the grill.   If I needed a car it would be becuase my commmute went from 4 miles to 30 and I would need a winter friendly car.  An orange hemi Charger with AWD would suit me nicely.  If it wasn't for the snow I would own a new Challenger already, but I would never get up the hill I live on in the snow.  On second thought...a hemi AWD Charger only gets 15/23 mpg...my 2006 Tundra gets 13/16...so perhaps it wouldn't be worth the change.  An Avenger would be a better option at nearly 30pmg.  I rented one once.  It is a pretty nice car.  It only had a 4 in it though.  The 6 has 283 hp and gets 29mpg.   Too bad they lost the AWD option it seems.  They also have weird new marketing names....Lux...heat...mainstreet and express...WTF?
