I would have posted this sooner, but I had to wait on the GoPro HD laps to upload...failed several nights, finally got it last night.

I spent some of the time helping guys with mech. issues, so I didn't get the usual time I do on pics/vids, but what I got is better than nothing.  I also was bummed bc I forgot the tripod I planned to just shoot from mid road, lol.

Anyway, this article has the pics and video clips, the GoPro HD lap (you can see a lot of cars on the side and get a feel for the cruise), and then lightning on the way home bc I was up late trying to baby the big GoPro file to upload, lol.

Charger wise you should see a few late models, (2) 72s, (1) 70, and (1) 69.  I think the red 72 goes by early on in the clips, the 70 is somewhere around the 3 min mark, and then the big hit for 3rd gen guys will no doubt be when the PettyBlue72 hooked a U and held up traffic at about the 3:30 mark  :2thumbs:  The 69 is an over the top resto, it goes by later on the video, roughly the 4:30 mark.  I do start that one out with still shots, but it won't take long to get into the video clips.  We didn't have any 1st Gens this year.  I took the Mopar 10 so overheating wouldn't be an issue, lol.  The guy in town with the red striped Mopar 10 was out too, so that was cool...his wife supposedly took a ton of pics of mine (blue striped), but I somehow missed them.

If anyone is passing thru Amarillo around the first Saturday of August next year be sure to let me know and I'll get you all the info for this FREE event!

Glad you liked it...I figured the 3rd gen guys would have jumped on the Petty Blue 72...

Yeah, I had to take the shots from that angle, lol.  The Challenger and Duster are actually a father/son, the Duster overheated...easy to do downtown.  I had never seen the Challenger prior to that...it has a nice 70s street machine vibe that I really dig.

The 69 and 70 are both super nice restorations.

I'm never sure how the calculate it, but some sourced say upwards of 1,000 cars...I'm not sure about that, but I know we had 2.5+ blocks of Mopars  :coolgleamA:

Yep, we used to have a burnout contest and loud pipe contest as well...the burnout contest bit the dust after the incident up north caused the insurace concerns...not sure why they canned the loud pipe contest...pretty sure AAM could have taken the 3 or so of the top 5 slots with what we had on hand, burnout would have gone to the 63 Fury...not many can compete with him, lol.  :coolgleamA:

I'm telling you 3rd gen guys you'll enjoy the 72...I still need to get him to sign up over here.

We have a similar event in Vernon (I have no clue how it gets the turnout it does, but dang...definitely something to check out).  Best thing about this event is that it is free!

Well, Vernon was this weekend...I was up in the mountains and missed it.  I saw a few pics, couple of Mopars sprinkled in here and there...I'll try to find more and post them.

"summer's last blast car cruise" was this past weekend in vernon.... but i only went to the car show sunday morning and was disappointed with the car count. i have been to the car cruise in the past with 1200 to 1400 cars signed up and i heard today there was only 700-800 cars in the saturday night cruise. the mopars were in the corner of the park and only three when we were there sunday morning.

all three had texas plates, i live in oklahoma about 30 miles north of vernon. next month there is an all mopar car show in dallas/ft. worth that we will go to.

TexasStroker

Man, sorry to hear that...The pics I saw from the cruise had a few more Mopars, I'll see if they guy will let me repost them.

You should head over to Chryslers in the Canyon if you want a good time, I have a thread in the Events Section...all Mopar and FREE, we'd love to have you.  :coolgleamA:

Are you in a club over that way?

Thanks again for posting the pics!

still working a few bugs out of the car..... bought a 73 for my sons first car, he gets to take his driving test in about 5 weeks. i have a trip planned that weekend at the sand dunes in oklahoma but will try next year. no mopar clubs here either..

TexasStroker

Very cool...Assuming he aces the test and the 73 is road worthy ya'll can bring 2 Chargers next year and help me egg everyone on to support "Chargers in the Canyon!"  You're welcome to join AAM if you get bored, or if you and a group of Mopar guys and gals put a small group together I can set your club up with a subforum off of Lone Star Mopars, free of charge.  I'm trying to build it up regionally (TX, OK, NM, etc) to see if we can't go from there and put together a few really awesome events.  This is the first year we didn't have anyone from the club hit Vernon...Was the Superbird not there this time around?
