Sounds like a bad lifter...but

Check a your exhaust manifolds (leaks at the manifold can easily sound like a lifter) also if your running a auto remove the inspection plate and check that the flex plate bolts are tight.

Also, hows your oil pressure? Is this a new cam? Did you properly break it in?

she just started this up today, motor has about 3000 miles on it. just did new plugs and wires on her  :shruggy:

Sounds just like mine, bad lifter it comes and goes. Its loudest when cold.

Before you start replacing lifters try tightning your header bolts or replacing the exhaust gaskets.

Been there and done that

I ended up taking the top end of my Charger apart and replaced the lifters on the pass side and still tick tick tick.

When I realized it was just the exhaust gasket I felt really stoopid.

Yes its really weird it comes and goes and at times I get a pinging noise through the exhaust at times as well . I got a set of ngk 4 plugs in her but I'm not sure what be better for her.            Rob

Agreed. I have that same intermittant lifter noise too.

I'd also be fitting a shroud on yer radiator too.
Gotta love a '69

If the noise fades away and comes back then it's a defective lifter.  :yesnod:
