Does anyone have pics of the charger factory exhaust routeing like diagrams or under car views they can post? I searched old posts but found nothing yet
Also Anyone know of vendors selling factory style tailpipes to fit chargers ? Specifically the tailpipe section with the flange that bolts to the exhaust manifold.
I tried useing c body exhaust manifold from a 69 newport 383 2 bbl in a 69 charger but... the y shaped exhaust tailpipe hangs down low beneth passenger side of car so I'm guessing b and c body must use diffrent y pipes.Did the factory cut the same y pipe back section off to make it fit or is there a diffrent y pipe available for 383 2bbl chargers?
Thank You

Thanks for info on accurate exhaust!
Here are pics of c body exhaust installed in 69 charger

It looks like the steering linkage won't bind up so if I cut the c body y pipe about 2 feet shorter and add a elbow to redirect it away from floor and frame it would work.
It fits sort of tight on the passenger side near torsion bar.I aligned that area first then bolted the side by starter then went back over to the passenger side .The only way I could align the flange on passenger side was to pull the end of tailpipe with a comealong power pull winch anchored to the cars rear springs. Notice how low the pipe hangs down when installed on a charger way too low without cutting it I'd say.

personally, if it were me,  I would not even use a C body exhaust.  Too many chances of it hanging too low and catching something like a speed bump or hitting a pot hole in the road causing the exhaust to grab the pavement causing it to bend or twist into something else on the car.  If you are going to do something, do it right the first time.

sorry to say
yes thats my thinking on this too !!  :yesnod: just get the correct exhaust , bolt it up & drive it or  move on to something else  :yesnod:

I drove the car around field to test to see if steering linkage has enough clearance it seems ok.  I don't know whats available that will bolt up to c body exhaust manifolds.
To get car on road quick I would probly just cut the y pipe a lot shorter to get ground clearance. It is too low to use as is. I tried to make a custom pipe to bolt to c body exhaust manifolds but nothing lined up right it was always close but always right up against something else . I'll consider single or dual exhaust but I just need something basic street legal factory type exhaust pre bent pipe that bolts to the c body manifolds for now Thanks.

Have you called Acurate yet?  I think they can weld up the flanges for whatever manifolds you have.  All that changes is the indexing on the flange and the angle it comes down on.  might be worth the money to have them make up one for you for a C body manifold.

I haven't called accurate . That is a very good tip about changeing exhaust flange index angle. I'll have to give that some thought vs swapping to b body manifolds, pipe, etc..
