I go overboard. I have a duffel bag in the trunk with spare ballast resistor, voltage regulator, ignition module, one of each belt, hose, fuel pump, a tool kit and a small floor jack. I used to burn up alternators often, and I carried one of those, but have no need now that I rewired my car.

I haven't seen anyone chime in about a voltage regulator... especially if you're still running the old electro-mechanical style.  That and a ballast resistor for sure...      :yesnod:

:iagree:

I took my car EVERYWHERE over the years, never let me down.

But i did carry,

Ignition module, fuel pump, ballast, coil, belts, voltage regulator, fuses, tools, coolant, oil, hose clamps, few small feet of different length hoses, fire extinguisher, some wire, jumper cables...think that covers it. It all fit in a small box in the trunk nicely.

I packed spare electrical parts for a trip that had four days of driving. I lost a trim ring near Tok Alaska & that was the worst of it.

Have fun!  :2thumbs:

My general rule of thumb if I don't have the "reliability" confidence in a vehicle yet is to bring whatever I can fix myself on the side of the road for the "Just In Case" the auto parts store does not have it in stock.  Lets face it, how many auto parts stores can get something for our old cars now the same day, let alone have it in stock on the shelf?

Oh, also pack a flashlight in case you do night driving and break down on the side of the road, you have a light to help you get it fixed!

Every charger owner should have one of them as a standard option!
