Hey all,

I'm new to the site though I've owned this 1973 Charger SE since 1992.  It's an unrestored original right down to the green rubber floor mats.  Thanks for a great Forum.

Check out my website: http://www.geocities.com/jimsmopars2003/

Gorgeous example there. Absolutely stunning.

Do you take it to any shows? If you do, make sure to contact the people from the survivors tent and talk to them. They would put ya up in a tent at the show, and all.

Yo,

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

911Bear;

It's the F8 paint code (Dark Green Poly).  I think the Poly stands for metalic.

69 500;

I've taken it to a few shows but nothing like Carlisle or the Nationals.  Carlisle's only about 2 hours away so maybe someday.  Locally, it's done well and I did drive it to North Carolina from Pennsylvania (where I kept it stored while in the service) for a Dodge Charger Registry show.  I did that when I was in the Air Force and stationed there.  Overall, it's held it's own even at the small shows where it's up against restored cars.

Andy 74;

Specs:

318, 2bbl, 904 TourqFlite
Factory Air Conditioning
Originally came with Goodyear F70-14 RWL tires; one is still used as the spare

Original Green cloth/vinyl interior
Original White paint stripe (has all but faded off on the drivers side but is still quite visible on the passenger side - go figure!)

Rear window defogger
Rallye Instrument Panel

Thanks again everyone for the welcome.

Check out this paint run in the trunk on the wheel well!

How many miles on 'ol Greenie anyway? ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

She's got 103,000 and some change miles.

Thanks for the info. about Carlisle.  Will you be there this year?  If so I'll look you up.  I'm going there to hopefully find some Goodyear G60-15 OWL tires for my '79 Magnum GT.

THE CHARGER PUNK

that is one beauty of a 1973 charger . just one question for ya how did you keep it in such great shape? it looks like it was made yesterday-MATT

THE CHARGER PUNK

also if the white stripe is faded how come you just dont get a pro pin striper to re-do the stripe? it still counts as a survivor and it would look a whole lot better-MATT

JimsSE

F8 69 CHARGER PUNK;

Good question on how it stayed that way.

First off, it does have some scratches and such that the camera just doesn't pick up.  And, after all, it is 33 year old paint.  I've got to work hard to keep the shine.  Thanks to Meguire's...

As far as the stripe.  Take a look at this picture.  The original stripe has almost strobe effect as if the roller had more paint on one side than the other.  I just figure painting over it may detract from the historical (or restorical) value.

What's everyone else's opinions?  At what point does a survivor car become not a survivor?  Is it O.K. to paint the vavle covers, lay a new trunck mat over the original one, replace the pitted chrome lug nuts and keep the old ones, and still call it a survivor.  Something permanent like the pinstripe (for me) goes too far.

What do ya'll think?

MCG may have survivor guidelines on their webpage.  They have often hosted that Mopar Survivors tent that goes around to a bunch of the shows in the summer and I remember reading in a couple of issues what their criteria was.  For that matter, the Mopar Survivors may have theri own website.
