Hey did you see in USA Today this morning that prices on Chargers are up 64% over the past six months. Not that I would sell mine, but is great for those that have one and NOT so great for those who want one.

Would part of that hopefully be promising not to turn it into a general clone?? :puke:

It could be a good thing if parts producers think theres a dollar in it they will repop some of the hard to get parts.

Does that mean I can add 64% to my appraisal??

I don't know what the article was talking about concerning that they might not be able to get enough Chargers for a sequel. There's plenty of Chargers available at any Dodge dealer right now for only $99 over invoice. New movies should crash new cars.  :icon_smile_evil:

Well, with the new movie coming out I think everyone including myself was expecting this. I don't know that I was expecting a 64% increase, I was thinking more around 25-30%. I guess the folks looking for 69's are pretty much screwed unless you want to fork out a pretty penny. This better be one damn good movie!

Dale The Bold

Shame on those dang blasted Duke boys for making the cars we have collected over the years dramatically increase in value/popularity/desirabilty!  Life will be much more difficult now.

P.T Barnum once said, "There's a sucker born every minute"

Anybody who is stupid enough to pay that kind of $$$$$$ for a car just because of a movie deserves to get screwed! :yesnod:

well that kind of sucks if the prices go too crazy because I can only afford to buy a 3rd generation charger right now, I have a 74 and a 73 charger and want a 69 and 70 but if these prices get too out of control I wont be able to afford to complete my charger collection.  I want a charger from 69 up to 74.

69hemi

64%?   Hmmm..... a 69 Hemi Charger sold two years at BJ auction for $156.00.00  Now that times a 64% increase comes out to around a quarter of a million dollars.  Now that one was non-numbers matching so if you owned one that was numbers matching you could figure a little bump on there fo a few thou making a total that is pretty staggering.

I think I have found a way to get my two daughters through college!!!!

It probably wasn't 64% until that idiot put that article out.  Now that it's in print it'll be the officially quoted figure.
Can't wait to see the ridiculous amounts in the car corral at the Nats next weekend.

Dale The Bold

64%, eh?  Does that mean that HLPAG prices actually reflect the value of cars in that condition?

The mudstain guy I share my office with showed me a Kelly Blue Book online article today...  That's essentially where they're getting the figures from.

I don't put much stock in those either.  I know alot of people do but until Kelly Blue starts buying them all...
I should just accept that everyone is going to pay more because somebody is telling us we're supposed to and get over it. ::)
