Show or performance

What do you value more in your charger, does it look good ( to putt around and try to win shows) or do you value a well running charger living up to its name while looking decent as it drives down the highway   ?

Mine was running/driving but needed a resto and I drove the crap out of it for a few years but now its unde r the knife and when its done I plan on driving the hell outta it.

Since I can't manage to have one each of a classic slant 6, an Imperial, AND a race car, then like most everyone, I aimed for (and got) both show and performance  as best I could, in one.

I prefer the performance aspect unless it's a "Star Car"..Then, all you will ever really do with it IMO, is show it..

I would have to say both but I have allways wanted a Gremlin to put a 440 in.I saw one once it was bad.

Well, it wasn't for the looks I can tell you that....'Lil Bastid went low 6's 8th mile on a 200 Shot, with a stock 460/C6 8 3/4 4.10 gear combo...Made alotta money with that car on the street...

I guess way back when, if you had something quick and fast it was kind of an unwritten rule that it had to "look the part" too...
IE: Primer, Part of engine poking through hood, LOUD, Deathly quick, Insanely ratty looking to fool what we called "Rich boys" in their nice, clean, ALL ONE COLOR cars...

Performance first, aesthetics second.  This is all subjective mind you, but that is how it goes in my book.  I would start with the chasis, build the suspension, build the driveline, make sure the brakes are up to par, and then worry about the aesthetics.  Depending on the show and how it is set-up, I would be willing to enter a primered 2nd gen that sounds like the gates of hell just opened when it appears on the horizon and feel pretty good about it.  Then again, there are times I actually prefer primred A-bodies over show cars w 10k paint jobs, so what do I know.

And yes, I know I am in the minority.  For most people I think having the car look decent and drive is the goal, then they split off into "making it look better" or "making it faster."  You can only go so quick practically...a lot of guys have no business with a 10.90 stroker when they will never modify the rear suspension or run a cage.  You should do everything practically imo. 

Bottom line is it is your Charger, do what you want...preferably a mix of both...It is the Charger's responsibility to kick ass and look good doing it

both, wanna show off how good looking my car is (when its painted) but its gunna be used for what it was made for no trailer queen, REAL CARS HAVE ROCK CHIPS!

I'm gonna add one to the mix... both for sure, but its gotta sound the part as well.  There's nothing like the rhythmatic lump of a big block mopar idling on a cam at a stop light!  It's gotta look bad, sound bad, and BE bad!  If you can't look good all around, make sure you look good from the back end cause that's the part most are going to see after you pass them!!

You have your foot on the brake, your arm around your girl, your left wrist on the top of the wheel, fingers pulsating, pant leg quivering, all the while you hear the mellow exhaust note; PO-TA-TO--PO-TA-TO--PO-TA-TO--PO-TA-TO... The light turns green. You step on the throttle. The "R's" come up! The torque converter hits it's stall and we wait for that "Potato cam" to show up to the party! Revs climb! Your ears are filled with the joyfully deafening roar of the thermoquad as the secondaries are pulled open! The asphalt begs for mercy! "CHERP" once again as the 727 bangs 2nd! R's climb, the T-quad roars, exhaust headers wail! You're abruptly shoved forward as the 727 hits 3rd! You back out and roll back to a resonable speed! If your a lucky man your gal loved it as much as you did!

A bit of both for me. Not taking it to the track but it still has some power, should look good going down the road but won't win a show.

as much as i love looking at show / trailer queens !!  awesome machines     , has to go as  good as it looks !!  & have a sharp knife edge tune    no matter what motor combo your running ! seen a good few cars look the part !!     but    not just mopars  but  fords & chebbys too  that dont run well

I've never trailered mine to a show(Although I bought a trailer!)... So that's a strong BOTH for me..  I did this to DRIVE it, not preserve it.Been to the dyno, the track, the shows but most of all I've viewed the road through my passenger's window with a big smile on my face...
